    Anthracite is a very good example, it is the purest form of naturally occuring coal. The energy density of coal varies very widely by quality and purity. This makes our import/export ratio even less rational, economically speaking.

    Many counties export coal, and import coal for domestic use, but only if it costs less to do so, eg. US, Indonesia, Vietnam.

    Almost all the coal Eskom uses is imported. Sasol uses mostly Natural gas piped from Mozambique, but they do use a small amount of local coal.
