VW Polo Mk6 range incl GTI (2018)

On modern cars that should be calculated by the onboard computer on the actual flow of fuel through the fuel pump. It should be pretty damn accurate. Manufacturers' claims? That's a different story. Because the current Euro cycle lab test is deeply flawed, and because... well... we know the rest.

VW Polo Mk6 range incl GTI (2018)

Eh... Nobody? There are a couple of big ticket options like nav, LED headlights and the sunroof, and 2 styling options in the R-Line and Beats lines, but most of the options are quite keenly priced. Cruise control is R1.8k; park assist which allows the car to almost park itself is R4.6k. Add...

    VW Polo Vivo (2018)

VWs maintain value well, especially so the Polos and Vivos. Because demand will remain strong, the old Vivo isn't going to suffer a sudden knock to its residual worth. There will be some impact, sure, but we're also talking about cars that sell around the R170k or lower mark. Even if they...

    VW Polo Vivo (2018)

You're about 6 weeks too late. There's only a handful of old Vivos left in the dealer network, if you're talking new. On used cars the new model's launch isn't going to have a huge effect on the previous generation's price.

    2017 VW Tiguan (2nd Generation)

All the DSGs are in short supply, but the worst is the 162kW petrol Highline that sits at the top of the range. 3 in the country at last count. There are a couple of 1.4TSI DSGs floating around, but a fair few of them are (very) blue and thus less in demand. If you want the R-Line kit...

    2017 VW Tiguan (2nd Generation)

Depends on variant; some are difficult to get, some impossible. [emoji14]

    The New Golf (2017 - Mk 7.5)

In this instance, no catch beyond it being contingent on finance through VWFS, even if just a portion of the purchase price. Let me know what colour I can have prepped for you. [emoji14] *edit* Not a catch per se, but the quoted instalment would be on a base example with no additional options...

    The New Golf (2017 - Mk 7.5)

The GTD is priced at almost R40k less than the GTI. It isn't quite on the same page performance wise, but it's positioned quite comfortably ahead of any petrol variant other than the GTI. Your argument is sound in most cases, but the GTD is a bit of an oddity.

    The New Golf (2017 - Mk 7.5)

Oh, the irony... [emoji14] It's widely regarded, with good reason, as the best car in its class. It's well engineered, well put together, good to drive & it maintains value better than most. Widespread appreciation for a good car isn't at all puzzling. Prices have become a bit silly, but...

The Mercedes-Benz X-Class Thread (MB Bakkie - RIP)

This is the correct response. Front looks OK, back is beyond bland, and the interior is bloody awful. This completely daft trend of tacking iPads onto dashboards has to stop.

The VW (T6) Caravelle & Kombi Thread

On the one hand this isn't David Kramer's Volksiebus anymore, dude. On the other, seen what a comparable Merc Viano costs lately...? :( Car prices are stupid.

VW Polo Mk6 range incl GTI (2018)

Wouldn't be that surprising. Golf facelift dropped in price slightly from the outgoing model, and although it's an all-new Polo and not just a facelift, it'll get the corresponding drop in engine capacity to the 1.0 turbo 3-cylinder. It might just happen. :p Trendline Golf's standard spec...

    2017 VW Tiguan (2nd Generation)

Volkswagen's responsibility? Responsibility to who? They offer an article at a given price that you are more than welcome to not purchase. Companies change. BMW even starting making some things other than airplane engines a while ago.

    2017 VW Tiguan (2nd Generation)

Inflation's a bastard. Polo is already wholly above R200k, but the new one's unlikely to be priced too differently from where it's positioned now because it'll be priced straight out the market otherwise. Same with Vivo; it has to be priced against its competition like the Etios, Figo and...

    2017 VW Tiguan (2nd Generation)

That's not true, really. I've recently returned to working at a VW dealer, and standard spec has improved across the board as ranges have been replaced or had their face-lifts compared to what I recall from a couple of years ago. Go back a bit and Trendline Golfs would have hubcaps and manual...
