Another solid month!
The Paarl heat is upon us, most of the import this month was during those warmer nights to help keep the batteries charged up during higher load-shedding stages.
Best month by a long shot, only had 5 days below 30kW PV production. +- 440kW better than September.
Lots of sunshine and cooler temps, I left a fair bit on the table as well due to not having sufficient load requirements. Aircons, geysers, pool pump, oven - all running beautifully off my...
September is down on August, but less grid use which is a win!
Had my best ever day yesterday, with 44kWh produced, still did not have enough load to use all PV.
Edge of cloud effect earlier this week, 8.26kW out of 7.5kWp array.
Already overproducing with nice sunny days and cooler temps, will start running ACs during the day soon.
Attached is some data from my CBI Astutes on geysers and pool pump. Geyser 1 is used in the main bedroom and washing...
Also a good month in Paarl. Had in the in-laws over for 2.5 weeks which meant extra geyser time and heating on cooler days. But very happy considering it was still a "winter" month.
Running out of load to use all PV generation/create a beautiful boob:)
2 x 150L 3kw electric geysers run to temp (set to 70 degrees if I remember correctly)
Pool pump ran for 10 hours
Oven used for an hour
Pressure cooker used 4 x for cooking meat off of the Kudu bones (to make pies)
The...
I was too eager and incorrectly completed my figures for August, and not July. Please delete, I will submit new stats for July. Sorry for the additional effort:rolleyes:
All in all, happy with how July turned out. After the past two months of training SWAMBO and our domestic, load has been reduced to efficient levels, that said, geysers and A/C were run without much hesitation which is where most of the import has gone to.
Almost a 65% increase in PV...
What a crap last week of July here in the Winelands, doubled my grid import just in this last week! But to be fair, the rest of the month was not too bad:) I will post my final figures tonight.
July is much better than June in the Western Cape (Paarl). I have just surpassed my total PV production for June this morning and looks like the forecast for the rest of July is not looking too bad:)
Jonker Industries - pretty happy with everything. As with all contractors, communication could be slightly better. But cost wise, etc., they were very fair. They are a father and son operation, did everything themselves, the old man did major PV farms in the NC before coming to help his son.
Hi Glenn,
The system has performed exactly as hoped for so far:
8kw Sunsynk Inverter
2 x 5.12KWH Hubble AM-5's
15 x 500w JA Solar panels
May was decent in terms of sunny days, produced 439kwh (10 x panels from 6 May - 17 May, 15 x panels 17 May - 31 May). Definitely not optimised as best I...
Update:
Inverter, batteries and 10 of the 15 panels have were installed on Friday and are live. Balance to be installed on Wednesday (I am out of town Monday and Tuesday).
First day of solar was (disappointingly) a very cloudy day here in Paarl, however, managed to use zero Eskom from 07:00...
