The MC801A uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon X55M chipset which should perform much better than the ZTE chipset in the G5TS. The G5TS is a much cheaper router than the MC801A. I am fairly happy with the performance of the G5TS but if my 5G signal was marginal then it would probably struggle.

Here are my latest MyBB Speed Test results from my CI/Vodacom 5G service. As you can see from the coverage map there is no 5G Home coverage in my suburb. Speeds do deteriorate when the tower is busy. I have been very happy with the performance over the last 10 months.

If you can't wait to get your 5G service up and running, the first invoice is calculated on a pro rata basis i.e. if you sign up on the 24th of July for example, then you only need to pay for 7 days of use i.e. 7/31 x R199 = ~R45 etc.

@feesbees: Do you have any screenshots showing the PCI and EARFCN values of the 5G tower when the service was operating normally ?
If you can connect to the weak signal try to see if these have changed. If so, you may be able to return them to the previous settings from the 5G Cell Lock section...
Sorry to hear. Luckily I have never had the 5G service disappear in the 10 months that I have been using the CI/Vodacom service.

Have you tried to force the router to connect to one of the 5G bands from the Developer Options Menu ? Just use your router password to sign in. Go to the NR5G Band Lock section and select just Band 41 and Band 78 and Apply. After the router has rebooted itself check the Device Information menu...
