For LLMs? Good luck with that
🙃
Brilliant for object detection etc.
But for LLMs you want the cheapest high volume high bandwidth RAM money can buy. And Raspberry Pi's aint it.
No. The PICs money is not the government's money. That is like saying your retirement money belongs to Allan Gray or Sanlam. They have influence over voting etc but the PIC has legal independence.
GPUs are not the most cost effective way to host your own Llms. For the price of a single 5090 with only 32GB of VRAM you can get a new "AI" PC with 128GB unified memory. Small models might win on speed on a 5090 but 32GB is a bit cramped for proper model sizes.
Bob van Dyk was the worst thing that could have happened to Naspers and by extention the JSE.
Not sure his shenanigans will be undone soon.
They think they are so smart but they got lucky with Tencent. And then they played smart and made deals like Stackoverflow.
Not sure that the current...
Well if Vumatel created it's own ISP and competed unfairly with other ISPs on its own network then yes.
And FNOs are still localised monopolies. Very few areas do you have a choice of FNO.
Lost money on Steinhof. Does that count?
Almost got scammed by Facebook ad the other day. They clone web pages of reputable shops and if you don't concentrate...
I suspect probably a third of ads I see on Facebook is a scam. What I have seen Impersonating Game/Makro/Afriforum for some...
Competition commission need to get involved and slap this down ASAP.
Anybody thinking that a return to a combined wholesale/retail Telkom is a good idea hasn't lived through the nineties and naughties.
Sorry - I wasn't questioning who needs the phone in general - I was questioning who absolute needs this phone but have to pay it over 48 months. E. G. Why a previous generation phone might not suffice. I am not anti-tech I am just skeptical about people digging themselves in financial holes to...
You have to pay what you can afford. You can probably get to 99% of the functions at half the price.
48-month contracts on a device is not rational. No matter how you slice it.
The only reason I can see where it makes sense if you are an app developer needing the phone or you want you show...
Wowser. If you take out a 48 month contract to get the flashiest phone I guess any financial advice is wasted in any case. Maybe just get a cheaper phone?
Nah - still worried that these junk fees infest South Africa and all businesses see it as a viable strategy. If your neighbours house is on fire you need to go help because it can spread to your house soon.
We need to make it clear that any body adding junk fees won't have it hidden...
Did it a couple of months ago already :-) I used to simp for FNB in the 2008/2009 timeframe so I am just undoing all the promotion I gave them back then :) .
No no. That is not the point.
Once a company starts with stealth billing and nickle and diming you you can be sure that they don't give a hoot. This is an issue about trust. And you have to be able trust your bank. Because once this behaviour starts it escalates.
So I *hate* stealth billing...
