Last night both my UK servers felt local again. Massive improvement. No lag. Thanks for getting to the bottom of this. To be honest it was the first night in a while where I did not think about the network at all. Which is exactly how it should be. It just worked.
Changing it to that value and pinging using MTR with a packet size of 1472 ( 1500 - 28 overhead ) gives me a far greater loss than what I had pinging on the default 64 size. Which is interesting because response is okay, as long as the game does not need to load in a lot of data. As in terrain...
I am on Vumatel Trenched, Panorama, Western Cape. This has been a recent problem for me. I have been playing on that server for over a year now, with almost no issues at all. Even the cable breaks did not really cause problems. All your routing worked fine :D I have two UK based servers I play...
I have been fiddling some more. And I may be onto something. What is the correct MTU setting for Vumatel and CISP together?
My problems started when I upgraded Ubuntu to 25.04. For a new motherboard that needs support. The network config wizard ( which I have never used ) has an override...
I have a question for all you networking gurus.
I am trying to play minecraft on a server based in the UK. When playing directly. The world takes forever to load in and it is almost unplayable. Ping however is low, 141, with minimal packet loss.
When playing over VPN: q2.cisp.co.za
Ping is...
The 0% on to Terraco tells me that we the line itself is probably okay. The thing that is odd to me is that the MTR results remain the same, morning or evening. But the actual performance is night and day between morning and evening peak. After 23h00 things return to normal and all is well...
I think it is more complex than this. 2 weeks ago I could play on UK minecraft servers with no problems. The two weeks things are just not usable at night. It is perfectly fine in the morning. Ping is not bad, packet loss is minimal, but the moment a bit more data is needed, the connection...
