Vodacom and Makate put talks on hold

The sum must be simple to do ... too many on the gravy train, R47 million too little!

    Eskom's R3,500 Landrate fixed charge

Like any service, one has to run the numbers, farmers may need to go solar. We are slow at waking up and realizing we are being scammed. Make the switch to solar, generator and batteries. A 100 kw generator is not that expensive.

    Vodacom's 99% data price drop

I moved from dial up in Hermanus calling Cape Town, very slow and expensive, in about 2004 to a pcmi slot, on line all the time, it was absolutely amazing. The vodacom shop was clueless and the pcmi modem. It was always about R800 per month. It's a little less, for Fibre with 100 x the data and...

Makate says his claim of R9.7 billion from 2020 still stands

What are vodacom profits in South Africa? Then our inventor should get 0.00000087 percent of that. It sounds like waiting 10 years for an RDP valued R50 k, which one could have built oneself by saving R220 per month. Just start building. This court case will cost 15 working days a year for 20...

Just two weeks of load-shedding for the rest of 2024 if Eskom keeps up good performance

The reason fixed cost of electricity is going up has to do with the large number of solar installations. In the end people will start leaving the grid as price increases of 12 percent are unsustainable.

South Africans with solar power could pay more for electricity

Taxes can be increased until it makes sense to walk away. Can you be forced to use Eskom power? This may need to be tested in the Constitutional Court.

Eskom wants changes to electricity prices

“If we look at our current fixed-cost/variable-cost split, it’s probably about fixed-cost 70% [and] 30% variable,” said Cassim. Load the fixed costs to ensure you have to pay a high price. Need to test in the Constitutional Court whether you are forced to pay the connection fee as soon it will...
