Yeah that's true, but much of a muchness... Renult can get 9l/100 if driving conservatively, Subaru is only slightly more, and I might save on maintenance due to cheaper spares being available
No way, that's definitely not too old. I would go for it! Although its a very small car and practicality wise probably not the best choice. If you have a family you would need another car to go along with it. Thanks for the info
I found a 2010 RS 250 Sport Lux with 58000 on the clock. Haven't negotiated a price yet, but I would expect it will be around R155K ... not sure if that is a good price? Webuy cars offered R140k for it.
There is the whole finding spares headaches with Renault, while Subaru is known for...
Look I know this thread is dead... but if anyone sees this: I drove the Megane. its really quick and IMO way better than a GTI or ST (faster and looks better). However... I then drove a WRX... man...incredible. if anyone on the forum is selling a WRX for less than R180k please let me know.

Could you rank the above cars in terms of reliability?
Thats interesting, the reviews I see on it just rave about how good it is. Its nothing special to look at though.
Best used performance bargain under R170k. What would your top list be?
Please keep in mind long term ownership/running/maintenance costs. :)
Yes they are definitely a step up. Once you factor in price they are all in the same category essentially. Baisicly it should be titled: Best used performance bargain for under R170k.
Well after asking the guys at Autotrader I think im going to eliminate the Megane based on the maintenance costs... So its now down to GT 86, Fiesta ST and Mazda 3 MPS. It's sad but I would like to save towards a downpayment for a home and I need all the extra cash I can get.
Does anyone have a...
Yeah, the Insurance quote came in at around 800, I dont mind that. What I do mind is VW level reliability where they say its 'reliable' but my dad has one and I can promise its nothing compared to Toyota. I hope the build quality is better than VAG. Thanks :)
If anyone has owned a Megane RS kindly let me know your experience with reliability and running costs :)
Saw one on the road today and I think im in love.
Being a massive petrol head is getting in the way of my financial freedom haha
