Things that irritate you - Part 4

Caves? Pfft. Luxury. What I wouldn't have given for a cave. I was born in a field, no shelter, kakiebos for a mattress.

Maybe they'll stop barking if you stop fvckn them. Also, obligatory "username checks out" comment goes here.

    Fifa World Cup 2026

No snacks. Won't be watching either because each time I watch, they play like crap (thank you Mexico). But I do hope to wake up to a good result *fingers crossed*

What's the most interesting small town you've visited in South Africa?

As a small town, as interesting or just in general? It's a bit subjective, I guess. My own definition of a small town is pretty simple: if it has a mall and/or a franchise hospital like Life, Mediclinic, Netcare etc it is not a small town. But that's just me.

Gauteng plans to install average speed over distance cameras on e-toll gantries

Has anybody ever received a fine from an average speed camera? A while back I asked a bunch of people at work that travel the N3 regularly and nobody has received or know of a person that was fined in this way.

Woman, 21, Plummets 131 Feet to Her Death After Bungee Jump Staff Allegedly Forgot to Attach Safety Cord [Brazil]

Good points. Plus, even if they do hoist somebody that high and chuck them as normal procedure, the cord would take out some of the chuckers. I call AI bullshit.

Which is the most hair-raising South African mountain pass you've driven?

Without a doubt Rebellie pass between Old Mill and the Fouriesburg- Clarens R711 route. But it is a 4x4 route so probably doesn't count in the context of the question. Beautiful views on Lesotho and technically very difficult. For normal diving, I guess Swartberg stands out.

    Airmobile - MTN popups

Just checked, and I also have 2 Sim toolkits installed on my phone, both with notifications enabled. Have now disabled as much as possible on both and will also report back. Only difference in my case from the above is that my Airmobile Sim is physical, not eSim. My FNB is an eSim, which may...

    Airmobile - MTN popups

I'm also getting these on my Afrihost Airmobile data sim. Voice eSim is FNB, so I doubt that is originating point. Must be Airmobile.

Journalism Internship (Paid Position) – Apply now

I am mildly disappointed that the article wasn't titled something like: "Opportunity for an intern to kiss unemployment goodbye"

What's the most interesting small town you've visited in South Africa?

I actually enjoyed driving Swartberg pass and I have a severe fear of heights. My biggest worry was how I would handle oncoming traffic at some spots, but I was lucky in that regard. Anyway. Driving from Oudshoorn to Prince Albert, just after the top of the pass the road makes a long, right-hand...
