For me the ESIM name is “Connect” however the IP address i receive belongs to OVH and Packet Host, cycles between those two if I disable and re-enable. Either one is pathetic. I know it’s not Vodacom in my area because on 5G here I surpass 500Mbps.
Are you going to try their physical sim?
Well for me, I see that every night around 9ish, the speeds are normal ( 100Mbps + on 5G) but for a minute at most. Definitely some form of throttling/shaping.
I’m just curious as to whether they’re reselling like an Airalo service of some sort.
I just signed up for the Uncapped Prime and activated the eSIM. Seeing the same terrible speeds, have you tried reaching out to them to see what they say?
I’ve had nothing but pain with them, took forever for a rep to reach out, once they did, the invoice was sent very very quickly and was paid quickly as well, and ever since I’ve heard nothing, it’s been 4 weeks now ( I’m in Durban btw). Getting through to them is a pain…
So now I know its definitely the router, As when the speed did significantly drop to around 15Mbps, I plugged in an Ethernet and tested it on my laptop and the speed was 50Mbps! How even???
I think maybe it has something to do with antennas in the router, the B525 has 2×2 mimo and doesn't support Band 40+Band 40 and therefore only works with 20Mhz bandwidth? idk
So I'm pretty sure the software is causing majority of the issues, however I don't have any speed test results before the whole UI change and all that. But is there a way to roll back
Also, this is the 1TB package on telkom, there's no soft throttling on this package at all. So I'm not sure whether somehow Telkom is able to sense that the sim is in a Router and automatically slow it down, and maybe the speeds on my phone are perfect because Telkom senses its in a phone and...
THE ETHERNET PORTS ARE SO SLOW, I thought maybe it was a defect on my side but my ethernet ports are also very slow, On my 5Ghz band when I do a speedtest id get around 60-70Mbps but on Ethernet around 20-30Mbps. To answer your question, I've tried the sim in my Z Flip, a small mifi router from...
