    My Homelab Journey (Beginner)

Thread update: I have switched to testing unraid - server setup on trial license and so far the learning curve is a bit more forgiving than Proxmox VM was setup fairly quickly - struggling a bit with audio passthrough on the VM but performace seems a bit better than proxmox using ubuntu...

    My Homelab Journey (Beginner)

I have been reading up on sunshine and moonshine. Want to try the following next: -buy a cheap gpu (gt1030 or in that range) to mess around with gpu passthrough. Igpu passthrough on proxmox just not worling for me. Seems to be hit and miss in general based on forums. -install and trial rust...

    My Homelab Journey (Beginner)

Quick question - Am I correct in my assumption that if i can get a iGPU or GPU passed through then my streaming would perform better. both via files and internet browsing via some form of remote protocol - I don't need to physically plug my monitor into the GPU to gain its performance benefits...

Bit slow going - haven't had much time...But decided to see how my ubuntu desktop VM performs on the i3 10105 just as comparison. It performs much better but still some lag in Youtube playback (via xrdp and spice protocol) - but much better than the i5 3470. I also deduce it would perform better...

    My Homelab Journey (Beginner)

I am new to linux, so i wanted to spin up a linux distro (or more) as a daily driver to learn. But the performance is not great so far. E.g. Browsing, general use. so not achieving what I initially wanted. But im going to play around more. I will eventually move onto setting up plex and/or...

    My Homelab Journey (Beginner)

So between me fiddling with the bios and following guides on igpu passthrough i seem to have messed up my server config. when booting it now hangs on loading ramdisk... now reading up i must have messed up something in the boot sequence or proxmox doesnt know what changes i made. I can spend...

Thanks. I can understand there will be compression with a remote desktop protocol but i am maybe assuming audio and video should be audible etc. If i search for my igpu it doesnt seem to list within the vm so im not sure its being passedthrough so cpu doing all the work. let me play around abit...

after some reading could my lagging and buffering be due to the igpu not being used in a VM? I can try guides for igpu passthrough but maybe that is time wasted? @Mzezman @PhireSide @MakoPC @Pho3nix @B-1

    My Homelab Journey (Beginner)

Thread Update: So I spent the weekend and made some slight progress. 1. Updated my mikrotik router (haven't updated it since I initially setup my router) - now running ROS7 and winbox4. 2. Created a ventoy disk with some iso images 3. Setup my first proxmox server! I ran into some issues...
