'They came with machetes' - deadline looms for migrants to leave South Africa

ANC voters love a scapegoat. They simply don't believe in any accountability. To be fair though, illegal foreigners are a huge problem, and put a massive strain on policing, healthcare, housing and pretty much all facets of life for locals.

'They came with machetes' - deadline looms for migrants to leave South Africa

Our ward councilor accompanied by SAPS has asked, and big surprise, most of them are illegal foreigners. Our ward has been strongly encouraged to not employ these people.

Hail Mary to save 134-year-old South African sugar producer from liquidation

All this has done is make products containing sugar more expensive.

Say goodbye to shopping malls as you know them in South Africa

Malls these days are staffed by minimum wage employees who don't understand their own products, and harass you with "how can I help you?" only because they want to earn sales commissions. Customers have to queue at boom gates, queue at the tills and get overcharged for parking in the dimly lit...

South Africa’s DA seeks move for Steenhuisen to DTI, Rapport says

So zero acccountability for his mistakes in Agri, and now he gets reshuffled to another department. Is the DA just an extension of the ANC now.

    Fireplace advice

What type of wood did you get? I've had success with Sekelbos, Bluegum and Blackwattle. This year I bought a bakkie load from some dude outside Purple Tulip nursery on Cedar Rd, and got some mixed stuff for R1450 incl. delivery but I can't identify the wood, and whatever it is, it doesn't...

    Fireplace advice

Sister-in-law is in the market for a new fireplace. She got some quotes. The Morso 1630 we paid R40k for in 2022 is now R60k. That's a 50% increase in 4yrs. Unreal!

Equinix's Cape Town data centres face resistance even before handing in plans

@Hanno Labuschagne AFAIK all of the DCs in South Africa run closed loop systems. There's very little wastage of water.

Kruger National Park using security tech to help with investigation into killings

Opened the article expecting some fancy tech... cellular triangulation, Ground Surveillance Radar (GSR), LiDAR , thermal imaging, and AI-driven video analytics but NOOOOOO.... Instead they have some off the shelf CCTV cameras from Takealot, and the footage didn't pick up anything...

NMBM wants to install a “Tjommie” in my house…

So they want to install a ripple relay (Tjommie) to make your electricity supply even more intermittent that it currently is. I would chase these clowns away from my property.

Banks scoring method for bond approval

You would think this is how it works but its not. Ask a business owner that could easily afford to purchase a vehicle cash how hard it is to get vehicle finance. While I don't have direct experience of working in the loans department, from everything I've heard, the primary factor in...

    Decent headset for WFH

My HyperX Cloud Alpha headphones have been great. I'm permanent WFH and I'm often in calls with clients 8am - 5pm. Never had issues with audio and microphone quality, and they're really well built. No issues in the last 4 yrs except wear and tear, and I got a replacement headband and ear pads...
