Port Elizabeth woman, 64, dies after pit bull attack

I agree with you there. A small inside dogs better, but then you get instances where you need a trained all rounder that will be able to protect you from the sort of brazen burglars who want to trespass when you are chilling in your backyard caught off guard with beers in hand. Also the thing...

Port Elizabeth woman, 64, dies after pit bull attack

And here I am looking for a guard dog puppy, and considering a pitbull, but with how I have raised most of my dogs in the past, it would definitely be a softy.

Vuma Village's merger woes will cost ISPs their clients

Do you also have an address related issue, where your address shows has coverage on the coverage search, but Vuma can't find your address/say its not yet covered?

Vuma Village's merger woes will cost ISPs their clients

Yes, and this is mainly due to the address dataset that Vumatel is using when placing orders, versus when checking for coverage. I also notified everyone on our street that the same could happen to them should they wish to change ISPs or increase their line speeds. I don't know why they don't...

Vuma Village's merger woes will cost ISPs their clients

I just received confirmation that everything has been set up and the service has been handed over to the ISP. I just need to get home, set up PPPoE and see how it goes.

I tried that, and if I recall correctly, the (default) gateway address was empty. But I'll check again properly.

Vuma Village's merger woes will cost ISPs their clients

Day 7 and I'm defeated to be honest. So we rectified the address, and the order was placed this morning. I received a call from a Vuma subsidiary to come and install fibre into the house, and I explained that I have an installation already, which worked (under SADV) until I switched ISPs. Looks...

Vuma Village's merger woes will cost ISPs their clients

Yeah, the list of comms that I have, anywhere from Twitter, MyBroadband, e-mail, support tickets, phone calls.. unbelievable. But I have figured out what's causing my issue. Vuma's order creation page, and that used by some ISPs, uses a data source that seems to be the same as the deeds office...

Vuma Village's merger woes will cost ISPs their clients

@pinball_wizard, do you know which map service Vumatel uses on step 1 of the "new order wizard" on the dropdown? I think the issue I'm having is incompatibility between what Google Maps has vs that mapping service.

Vuma Village's merger woes will cost ISPs their clients

Have you tried to place the order on Vumatel's website? I was able to see that my address, although searchable on the coverage page, cannot be found on the order page. The street name on the order page is different, which I believe was one of the reasons for this disaster.

Vuma Village's merger woes will cost ISPs their clients

This is really awful, and I hope the ISPs are taking note of this, because there are other customers who don't use forums like this one, who might just see this as incompetence on ISPs side. The service light on my ONT is ON, and all I'm getting is that they are waiting for feedback from Vuma...

Webafrica installed Fibre on Friday ... Line still not active today ... no reply to any calls?

I managed to have them waive the calendar month notice, but that's after a long back and forth.. and, I was able to contact them, although having to wait long to get a consultant on WhatsApp. @OP they just need to get on the WhatsApp line and try all options to chat to someone (e.g. try billing...

Vuma Village's merger woes will cost ISPs their clients

I'm really stumped on this one.. Thanks to the forum members for your assistance so far (@pinball_wizard & @PBCool), but I think I might be better off hoping back to the dark side with WA where I did have service, even if it's back to a Stone Age 10/10 line. My livelihood is on the line at this...

Vuma Village's merger woes will cost ISPs their clients

The other line is still on WA, different house. The one I cancelled was at a new residence, where I initially ordered a 10/10 line, during lockdown, because I knew we couldn't take occupation because of lockdown. I didn't want to pay for a 100/100 I wasn't using. I have never had outages on WA...
