Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

And thus, you wont ever be redirected to the best local-CDNs and cache clusters maintained by the ISP. So, dont moan when your downloads/updates are slow, Steam being the top of mind for me. There is even a major privacy argument supporting not using ISP DNS, but its always a trade off...

    Omarchy Linux

Omarchy is a great project but it's roots and author are way too deep in strange things for me to have made a jump, but it's somewhat easy to clone the bits you like best into a DIY Arch. Mainly the window manager and the little gimmicks which were seriously user friendly IMO. For newbs, still a...

Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

So are you telling me this ISP is dependent on a single person not being on leave?

Mmm, I retract my comment, you're right. You could log an email anyway, I would.

    Afrihost Weird Speed Test Results...

Thanks for the info, another great insight and value of having AfriFolks around here. Isn't PPPOE bad? I refer to people smarter than me https://www.atomic.co.za/fibre-internet/pppoe/ At the very least, your router needs to start doing encapsulation, right?

    Afrihost Weird Speed Test Results...

I doubt every subscriber has an interface on their core router and I doubt they own the infrastructure on the access side either (lets not even consider GPON shared interfaces)

    Afrihost data centre outage

Somewhere, I have a screenshot from the poll they run on MyBB showing Absolute ahead by like 20 votes in the hosting poll very late into the night. There was a drastic swing 1 minute before the poll closed, I have no doubt.

Do you want a free VPS? - Always free - from Oracle

Nothing like a good-ol rug pull. I get that it was free, but trying to get everyone to upgrade to PAYG then sneaking in a resource change is nothing but pure crap.

Meili Logistics accused of inflating customs duties on AliExpress, Temu, and Shein

I ordered 14 total electronic parts for a project from a single store (I made sure to use the same store.) 4x are the same item, and another 5x of another item. The 4x part was split into 2 packages, and the 5x item was split into 3 packages. FROM THE SAME STUPID STORE. Now, Melli want to...
