Tesla Powerwall availability and price in South Africa

Seems like the powerwall is very similar to Apple products. Same features but for 50% more so you can show your friends how much money you have. It looks pretty, and I am told it works really well, but it is very overpriced. My stingy mind just cannot accept that a product like this gains...

Would you buy a Tesla Powerwall?

I love the idea of the powerwall. It looks great and can even be a feature in a home. However, for what you get it is extremely overpriced. For the price of a powerwall one can install a complete solar system, including a modest solar array and small Lithium Ion battery bank that can ultimately...

What do you do with your e-waste?

I used to drop my recycling off at the Centurion Lifestyle center. They used to have bins for plastics, paper and ewaste in front of the PnP, later it was moved to a hidden spot in the the covered parking area. I'm sure this must still be in operation.

What do you do with your e-waste?

If it is useful eWaste, I usually hand it over to my gardener and he will reuse, fix or recycle best he can. He is quite tech savvy. Anything else goes into the recycling bin with the other recycling and it is collected once per week from our home to be separated and recycled. We pay for this...

When did you last change banks?

I last changed banks as a student to ABSA. Since then they've been very consistent with their products and the support they offer. There might be better banking options, but I know what to expect from ABSA, and I have my personal banker to help with any of the unknowns. So far every home loan...

    Are you a backyard brewer?

I started beer brewing more than 10 years ago. I'm a bit over beer, and have been enjoying homemmade wine especially in my favourite form, mead. We also enjoy something similar to an apple cider made from apple juice. I have no interest in dabbling with pineapple and ginger beer. Thats what we...

Lockdown Day 4 - Are you working today?

Working from home as I usually do. We moved the whole company to the cloud years ago, and have been working remote for ages. Technically as an essential service I can find a way to motivate to leave the house, but we're so busy, I rather work from home and support clients to find their feet...

How do you keep yourself busy during lockdown?

I do what I normally do, except go out and do shopping. Online purchases are also not possible so I end up saving a bit of dosh. I work from home, as I normally do, with a bit of distraction from my daughter. I work out in my home gym, as per usual. I just don't manage to get my 10 000 mandated...

Do you think SAA can be saved?

Any company can be saved with the right amount of money, and the right people at the helm. The government may be willing to pour the right amount of money into this bottomless pit, but I don't see the them ever allowing the right people to be put in charge for it to make any difference. SAA...

Do you shop at Dion Wired?

I don't do overpriced, so Dion wired has never been on my radar. My life will not change if it is gone, but it is sad for the employees that will be looking for work. With the current economic climate I think a number of businesses will end up changing their business model. The target market...

Do you prefer to use plastic or paper straws?

I don't drink soft drinks often, but when I do, I either use a plastic straw, or none. Paper straws suck, or rather, they don't, thats the problem.

    Are you a gamer?

No, but I do love my Lenovo Legion and I have a decent collection of Steam games and enjoy buying them. But sadly, I never play any of them.

    Do you tip petrol attendants?

No. I'd be happy to do it myself if it were allowed it here.

Which smartphone do you currently use?

Huawei P20 lite. It was on special and I needed a new phone. Excellent value.

What is the best tech company you have dealt with?

Now that you mention it, I am also very happy with them. I love that I deal with a competent technical person when queries need to be resolved. I understand the name change, but I'm not fond of the new name xneelo... Maybe I'm just getting old and don't like change.
