Thanks @SauRoNZA
Sorry I thought the LAN Type options was something we dealt with at the start of this thread.
The options are Static IP and Smart IP (DHCP).
So I'm going to check out the video you posted and will report back, thanks
@Rickster Tried that.
"When I connect Router 1 LAN 1 or 4 to Router 2 WAN, I do not see the network on my wifi list. The 'Internet' and 'wifi' lights on Router 2 are green, but the left light is off (screenshot attached). I can however still see Router 1 Network, and it is connected. When I...
@SauRoNZA @Rickster @HAL 9000
Here are screenshots and photos and a full overview, which hopefully makes things easier for you to understand where I'm at.
Router 1: Huawei AX3 Model: WS 7100 V2
Router 2: TP-Link TL-WR840N
Router 2 set to Access Point and Switched On
Router 2 IP Address...
Wifi Light on Router 2 shows green.
If I log back into 192.168.3.2 and go configure it, what am I configuring it to?
When I connect laptop directly to Router 2 it shows the network connection, but no internet connection. (this is the middle light on top of the router which is red). I don't...
ok. ONT runs into Router 1 via LAN 1.
All good. No changes made here. Everything working,
Router 2 is set as an Access Point with IP 192.168.3.2 and Gateway 192.168.3.1 with Static IP LAN Type.
I'm running a cable from Router 1 LAN 2 to Router 2 LAN 2.
But I'm not seeing Router 2 as an...
Ah. So Router 2 as Access Point must be directly connected via cable into laptop?
So I think that's why I chose to get a router and not an access point. Because I was hoping to be able to access internet via WiFi, so I could connect laptop and mobile.
Is this a viable option?
Or must I connect...
ok great.
just to be clear . . . ands I hope I haven't balls'd it up . .. Right at the start @Rickster advised me to plug Router 2 directly into my laptop, which is what I did and how I've been setup this whole time.
So now I keep this setup while I make the changes you have advised, and then...
Router 1 - Huawei WiFi AX3
Model: WS 7100 V2
I have not logged into this router. I have made no changes to it. I don't even know if I have login credentials for it.
Router 2 - TP-Link TL-WR840N
This is the new router that I have accessed and changed settings to make it an Access Point...
LAN Type Options: SmartIP (DHCP)
MAC Address:3C:64:CF:BB:0B:24
IP Address: 192.168.0.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1 (optional)
Excuse me for being a dumbass. I'm not that technically savvy.
1. Any advice on how I find Router 1's IP address?
2. So we're talking about changing...
@SauRoNZA
So I've found this stuff in the TP-Link router's 'Network' settings. Am I hearing correctly that I should change the 'Gateway' entry to the IP address for Router 1? And if so, pardon my ignorance, how do I find that? Do I just check 'whatismyipaddress' on any device connected to...
Thank you. No. I have followed the steps from @Rickster
I don't know anything else. I don't have that knowledge.
The new router I am using which I have set to access point is TP-Link TL-WR840N
I don't have a mesh network. All I have is what I've said. And that's all I have to work with...
@Rickster you're a legend. Thank you.
Question: So I've setup second router as access point, as suggested.
Now I've got a cable running from LAN 2 on original router to LAN 2 on new router (access point).
On my laptop in the main bedroom I can see the new router ('Network 2') connected via...
