Kgosientsho Ramokgopa has bad news about South Africa’s electricity prices

Must admit I'm surprised he admitted this so close to elections.

You forgot to factor in the value of the property.

UN votes to adopt new world map to reflect Africa's true size

No trauma brother. I think it's laughable. Your assumption of expert status here reminded me of that incident. Similar ego involved.

Extra public holiday for South Africa – with the date officially declared

If they make it Monday half the country will be too hung over to bother to show up. I suppose not a terrible loss. My queues would be shorter.

UN votes to adopt new world map to reflect Africa's true size

Back off man. The fellow laid an orange peel out when he was at school. He's basically an expert on maps. I also remember when that professional swimmer kid nearly drowned out here in the Western Cape Rietie was going on about how he could easily handle the waves and the kid was just a sissy...

I don't understand why you keep asking these questions as though he's going to be able to answer. Do you think this @ToxicBunny fellow runs the port? Why don't you tell me who sets the moor status on the tracking app?

Goodbye Cape Town – Wealthy buyers are flocking to another South African coastal province

Could be the Miami of the entire Southern Hemisphere. If Durban's leadership just got their schit together Durban could be amazing. The beaches are beautiful. The weather is fantastic. Yes it's humid but honestly you do adjust to it.

ANC’s message to South Africa: Apartheid caused most problems and don’t judge us on our historic record

I imagine it was a combination of factors. Under Mbeki it was exclusively voluntary early retirement packages.

ANC’s message to South Africa: Apartheid caused most problems and don’t judge us on our historic record

I tend to agree. It's a side effect I think of the delay in commissioning new power stations. No point in keeping teams around to handle new power station construction if you're not building new power stations. As I've said already, the man was far from perfect. He was, despite this, still the...

ANC’s message to South Africa: Apartheid caused most problems and don’t judge us on our historic record

Eskom was still run by the government. It's never going to be as efficient as a privately run entity would be. I do agree that it had a lot of advantages though. For example it wasn't paying corporate tax and it was mandated to supply electricity basically at cost (obviously with enough profit...

ANC’s message to South Africa: Apartheid caused most problems and don’t judge us on our historic record

Yes I agree that it's a black mark against Mbeki. Never said otherwise. Overall it was a mistake. Even he admits it was. I do think his attempted direction for SA was a good one. He however needed to pace the plans out better instead of just digging his heels in and disrupting electricity supply.

ANC’s message to South Africa: Apartheid caused most problems and don’t judge us on our historic record

It's far worse than that. Eskom had already let those skills go by that point. They were incapable of doing it in house.

ANC’s message to South Africa: Apartheid caused most problems and don’t judge us on our historic record

I'm not sure. I don't think anyone in the general public knows what the details of the deals being offered were. Why isn't it a solution? It's maybe a solution you don't like, but it seems to me taking the incompetent and corrupt away from operations is a way of dealing with incompetence and...
