    Rain 5G in Pretoria North?

Signal does vary, it can be fine for a couple of days and then drop. I had 3 days where I had poor signal and then it corrected itself. Rain and Clouds don't really affect signal quality, but lighting definitely messes with it. If you're a gamer it's decent, not great but stable. For streaming...

    Unlocked the 5G connection today

As far as I can tell there are no external antennas available for the router Rain supplies. 5G requires 4x4 mimo and the Rain router only supports 2x2 antennas. I might be mistaken, but that's what I've seen on the forums.

    5G in the Rain

During the storm last night my 5G cut out completely, my signal strength is garbage though. Just wondering what your experience with 5G was during the rain?

    5G Viable for gaming?

Yes. I get ~30ms for local servers on 5G and ~40ms on my ADSL. I don't often play TDM etc.

    5G Viable for gaming?

I noticed Rain has excellent routing. On COD: Modern Warfare on Rain I get 189 ping to certain servers, if I switch to my WebAfrica ADSL I go up to 400ms when reconnecting. So either WA has terrible routing, or Rain uses black magic.

My Rain 5G experience so far...

The problem you're facing is that Telkom is discontinuing their ADSL/VDSL network. If you don't have fibre in your area you're going to be put on LTE. 5G is significantly better than LTE, both in speed and latency...when you have signal.

My Rain 5G experience so far...

5G is a very "weak" signal, it does not have the same penetration capabilities of 4G. This is not an issue with Rain or their implementation, rather a limitation of the technology that is being used.

    Rain 5G in Pretoria North?

I'm in PTA East, got my 5G on Tuesday. It is super dependent on the signal quality. 5G is very fragile, but if your signal quality is good the speeds and latency are amazing. I achieved up to 320Mb/s.

My Rain 5G experience so far...

As I said, it took me 2 hours to find one single spot in the house that gave me more than 25Mb/s. The 5G signal is incredibly fragile and hates obstacles. Good luck though.

My Rain 5G experience so far...

Purchase Monday 11 November 2019 I placed an order for the 5G router and was pleased to receive it on Tuesday 12 November 2019. Less than 24 hours from order to delivery and sim activation, very impressed. Installation: It took me 2 hours to find a spot where I had sufficient signal to exceed...

    5G Viable for gaming?

While the speed is very appealing, latency is the most important factor to me.
