Mecer 5KVA Inverter

I have a Mecer 5KVA Inverter with 4 X 12V Gel 100 ah batteries. On the setup of the inverter, setting 29 the volt power off setting the default is 42V. Can anyone advise what the optimal setting should be to avoid damaging the batteries?
