You have to go to the store and request the change from Telkom. I suggest you take this thread with you as proof To cut through any possible red tape. Best be safe than sorry.
I visited the Telkom and by luck the manager was an old school friend. I explained the problem to him and he changed my FreeMe Open contract to a TopUp one with the same benefits and imessage activated immediately. Clearly there is an issue on the FreeMe open contract that the out-of-contract...
Now that is very interesting indeed... Let’s hope sand_man’s Telkom guy can put this one to bed (no pun intended). If I do find myself near a Telkom Store within the next few days, I will be sure to escalate the matter and show them this thread as well.
i have tried everything under the sun here too with trying to get imessage to activate on the telkom network. i read this whole thread and everything mentioned here i have done. like cool_guy1989, i too have a freeme open-end contract and the option to load airtime have been replaced by minutes...
