To follow up on my problem with Postman, MTS worked with Postman support to get the issue resolved and kept me updated daily, and today it is fixed. Competent, high-level support from MTS right from the start, really pleased I switched to them.
There is definitely something wrong with their routing. I was battling to use Postman, which was half-working but timing out and couldn't load requests, and after two days of back-and-forth with Postman support I was eventually able to get an address that I could show wasn't working -...
Thanks, but I still don't get it. For a spambot author it is two lines (or parameters) to set "use_ssl=true" and "port=587" and then they can send through any external SMTP server ('s compromised account) anyway without implicating themselves at all. Are they generally too lazy/ignorant to do...
Agree.
So, you are not allowed to use any SMTP server other than you ISP's?
I'm not getting how blocking port 25 helps any of this, other than the most basic script kiddie maybe only uses it out of laziness. It's really simple to use SSL/TLS, most comms libraries just have a flag...
Using telnet is just to test if it can get through to a listening port. The SMTP details are another discussion.
So, what's next? No bittorrent? Not certain sites? The ISP can do whatever they like to protect their own servers, but they shouldn't be making up rules for for traffic they just carry.
@Anthro
Using port 25 for SMTP is perfectly fine in many cases, especially for server-to-server communication. Here are five reasons why using port 25 may be suitable:
Default Port for SMTP: Port 25 is the default and well-established port for SMTP. Many email servers and devices expect to...
All sensible and logical suggestions, of course.
An ISP is welcome to block incoming port 25 on their servers. I'm talking about a direct connection between my machine and my SMTP server. An ISP has no right to block that.
Sure, we'll just stop what we're doing and rewrite it all up to...
@AfriNatic Sooo.... don't tell anyone, let them battle with issues because of this change and let them deal with aggressively ignorant support from their ISP who deny they've done anything. As I said, I need to use port 25, both for legacy software that I need to run and because I develop...
I've had some run-ins with Axxess support, nothing has ever been resolved full, but this is the last straw for me. This latest has been going for a month and the support I've received has been a mixture of "we don't understand what you're talking about but try this unrelated thing" and "it's not...
Whenever they are accused of wrongdoing, regardless of the evidence, they always frame their response as "a fight" - because... the light is then shone on the accusers as attacking them, and it's good and courageous to fight. Primitive psychology, but works to muddy the water and drag the thing...
