    for some reason the problem has disappeared, this after a number of reboots but I am not sure how it came right!

    decoder is the hd pvr 2p. I have switched the cables to different inputs i.e. hdmi 1 and 2 and 3 with no effect. the remote works as I can change channels as shown on the decoder and the green light indicates it is giving the signal
