Government must still engage mobile network operators about plans to provide free mobile data to South African households

The cost of ~R6 billion every month is incorrect as if the government is buying 900 Peta Bytes (18M * 50GB), it will be a fraction of the cost. Let’s compare the price per GB. 1 GB plan: $80 ÷ 1 = $80 per GB 50 GB plan: $350 ÷ 50 = $7 per GB Now the percentage reduction: 80−780×100=7380×100 =...

It will be awesome for those on a budget. I'll definitely be using it.

Balwin increasing speeds of most of its FTTH packages

    It's a pity that the journos don't have basic math skills. 750Mbps to 900Mbps is 20% not 33%. 1000Mbps to 900Mbps is not a 33% increase, it's a 10% decrease!!! 300Mbps to 500Mbps is a 66% increase!!! All of the stated increases are incorrect except the 4Mbps.

Most affordable 1GB monthly mobile data bundles in SA

Shoprite K’Nect was the next most affordable, with a price of R39 for its 1GB bundle with the same validity period. If you use the Shoprite Money Market account 1GB is only R19 for 60days.

Cars with the best fuel economy sold in South Africa roundup - November 2023

I can't believe that the reporter of this article is so naive. All the vehicles listed with one or two liters per 100km are fake. All they do is travel 100km and then see how much fuel was used when the ICE starts for the last 10 or 20km! There is no way in hell that a 340kW engine only uses...

Video shows Uber drivers allegedly defrauding ride request queuing system to milk cancellation fees

Can't Uber see that the clients are canceling after the requested time!!! To those that are IQ challenged that means the driver DIDN'T show UP!!! Simple system to penalize the drivers if they accept and don't show up.

3 businesses funded the SABC's Rugby World Cup broadcasting rights

I just find it distasteful that the TOP Brass gets more paid into their back pockets than the R38M required for the rest of the country to watch the the games! Then when the handouts come they still take 50%!

Vodafone and Vodacom announce partnership with Amazon's Project Kuiper

I wonder how Amazon is going to prove it's 30% disadvantaged when the owner is one of the richest men in the world!!!

Epic new competition - Win 1 of 3 Xiaomi TV Box S 2nd gen media players

You can get it in any colour, like the Ford Model T, as long as it's Black! But seriously the Bluetooth remote is a dandy feature as then you don't have to point the device at the TV Box for the remote to work. And the TV Box can be inside the TV cabinet.

Icasa orders IT Lec to stop selling Starlink and cut subscribers off

Good on you IT LEC, I have been thinking for a while already why you didn't open a branch in another country and circumvent the ICASA BEE BS.

    Entry-level 40Mbps and 50Mbps FTTH price comparison - July 2023

Does anybody else have my concern that the ISP's are pushing up the bandwidth to make more money when most of us don't need it. We're a family of 3 and with our old 10Mbps link we were fine, all three of use could watch movies and or play an online game, admittedly we don't have 4k TV's ours are...
