It is yes. 1 pair of an ethernet cable. Of the 8 pairs, 1 is for the gate motor alarm, 2 are used for the intercom and this one for opening and closing the gate.

Ok so I measured voltage drop and I am losing just over 1v along the entire cable run. I presume this is enough for the gate not to register that the button has been pressed?? I really want to avoid running another cable because it will involve laying about 30m cable outside plus about another...
