Ellies blames macroeconomic conditions and less load-shedding for R107-million loss

Wow. I have a small solar company. I tried multiple times to open an account with them. I never got a response. So this isn’t a surprise. It’s not load shedding, it’s their own fault for failing to capitalise properly. Well that’s my point of view. I assume my experience was not an isolated case.

Africarare's Ubuntuland metaverse - we tried to buy land and were signed up to 13 mailing lists instead

Sounds like a scam and they’re just collecting email addresses to check interest. Insiders own free “land” then when fake hype hit stupid people will buy nothing at massively high prices. “Early adopters” or in reality scammers will be singing the praise of how profitable the assets is. MTN is a...

US Firm Oracle Pulls Plug on Eskom

I would like to have a say on the amount of money initially claimed and why there was a revised amount stated. I’m speaking from my experience at my company. I can’t say for certain this is what happened but I think that my experience is probably not unique in this life so here is my 2c. You...

Xiaomi launches its first foldable smartphone

“Xiaomi claimed the foldable screen had been tested to last for 1 million folds, while the hinge can go for at least 200 bends.” 200 bends wow!!!

    Twitter permanently bans Donald Trump

I’m pretty sure Twitter is not applying the same rules everywhere. What about our politicians? I think they have made more inflammatory remarks.

Apple's next CPU could take on Intel's best chip

In other news: The next iPhone will be better than the current one. Comparing the Future to now is slightly amusing. I am excited to see what Apple can do but let's just not sensationalize it too much.

Beware anything to do with cryptocurrencies - FSCA

When someone says everything is suspect then you should be suspicious of them. People need to be cautious but I’ve seen good and bad. Just saying...

Reserve Bank believes GDP could grow by over 45% in third quarter

This is a red herring of note! ZA contracted 50% then COULD expand 45%? ( feels like celebrating our matric pass rates) I’m surprised that the contraction mentioned in the last line of the article is only 8.5%. I thought it would be much worse.

Huawei SA is still going strong despite dropping Google services

I’m rather sure there are quite a few people have bought the phones and received a nasty surprise.

Garmin reportedly pays multi-million dollar ransom to hackers

So sorry for the late reply. Had waterproofing failures and the sensor cracked the last time. They gave me a vivoactive3 now. And the battery is seems to be failing fast.

The CEOs who have recently stepped down in South Africa

Say what? Anyone else confused by the Web Africa statement? “Webafrica CEO Tim Wyatt-Gunning stepped down on 1 July 2020 and was replaced by Sean Nourse, who has served as MWEB CEO for the past three years. Wyatt-Gunning has been Webafrica CEO since October 2011, and said it was the right...

Garmin reportedly pays multi-million dollar ransom to hackers

Well, I’m not surprised they had to pay this ransom. I’m on my 3rd replacement watch as the previous units failed under warranty. My sister and wife also have replacement warranty units. ( Vivoactives and vivosmarts -FYI) My opinion is that they cut costs first and worry about the effects...
