    Router Battery Backup

Price is back up to R1789. That was a bargain!

    Router Battery Backup

This is still on sale at the same discounted price. The seller is clearly trying to offload stock. I suspect simply because batteries can't be sitting idle till the end of time. I'm happy I got one unit at this price, and only wish I didn't have to spend R1.6k for a similar unit at the height of...

    Router Battery Backup

I charged my OnePlus 12 for a couple of minutes from the Elecstor's USB-C port. It charged at 12 Watt according to the Elecstor's display, and at 10 watt according to my inline USB wattage measurement thingy. There is no difference between the power delivered by the USB-A ports and the USB-C...

    Router Battery Backup

Just checked my warranty sticker, it's not broken, but it is under pressure from the two panels over which it spans. I suspect the seals break by themselves on most units.

    Router Battery Backup

I'm not sure. Unless they desperately want to offload stock for some reason, I guess the price will return to normal soon. I ordered yesterday because I assumed it would be back to the normal price today. But it is still available at the moment.

    Router Battery Backup

I'll test it out this evening. According to the specification is should be able to deliver 5V and up to 3A. So 15 watt. It's not a fast charger, but also not useless by any means.

    Router Battery Backup

I picked up the Elecstor Mercury Edition 100W 75WH LiFePO4 Mini UPS today. It's on sale for R429 @ Takealot. Link: https://www.takealot.com/elecstor-mercury-edition-100w-75wh-lifepo4-mini-ups-dual-port-us/PLID92690773 This should be below cost, surely? It's a steal. The black version goes...

    Oneplus 7T and 7T Pro

The pop-up camera worked a treat. To this day. It is one of the reasons it is such a great phone. If you have a new battery and you can install LineageOS, and you're only paying R3k, that sounds like a sweet deal. It is unlikely the processor or memory will be a bottleneck in day to day usage.

    Oneplus 7T and 7T Pro

Getting a 2019 phone 6 years later? Not advisable. Even if some people are still using the phone today, they probably won't be for long. Software updates is necessary to keep one safe, ultimately. By the way, I love my 7T Pro, in some respects it is the best phone I ever had.

    Paradox and Olarm

As other have said, this is the expected behaviour. I used Olarm (the first version) a couple of years ago. Though it worked, I was not thoroughly impressed. The app felt like a non-native app, kinda slow. Since switching to Home Assistant, I've not had any need for Olarm. It's fast and I have...

    Is 200/200 fibre overkill?

I've only recently started using proper gateways at both work (UDM Pro) and home (Unifi Cloud Gateway Ultra), which allows me to track WAN utilisation. This info has shifted how I think about the need for faster fibre connections. Bottom line, our family of 4, with all our devices streaming...

    Oneplus 7T and 7T Pro

I ordered from Aliexpress. Chinese version with Global ROM flashed, which is a great deal.

    OnePlus 12

I agree with the comment about value for money. Getting a Chinese version flashed with the Global ROM turns out to be quite a nice hack to save a significant chunk of change, without any downsides. It was a bit of a gamble, but worked out very well indeed. I'm quite often surprised by just how...

    OnePlus 12

I tried to find RTT, but was unable to. Searching the phone's settings gave me no results. I actually had to look it up - didn't know this existed.

    Oneplus 7T and 7T Pro

Insofar as the 7T Pro includes a popup camera and hence no camera cutout, I regard it as the peak of phone design. I'm keeping mine. I've been on the 12 for about two months now, and I'm extremely happy with it. It's just about perfect, apart from the camera cutout. You'll notice that the...
