    I have installed Omarchy a few times, and each time it upgrades, it seems to struggle with timeouts, and my OS get's completely broken and won't boot, unless I restore to a snapshot. I can't get past this point.

    Something doesn't make sense - where is the breakdown for the rest of the electricity consumption? What is Eskom's current capacity? What was it's capacity growth over the last 10-20 years to keep up with all this growth?

    I looked at their reports before purchasing my HDD's. Picking a HDD model based on reliability reports and rands per TB is a fine way to go. Even the best brands have bad models. It helps knowing which ones to avoid.

    I purchased some 8TB Ironwolf Pro, back when they were more affordable. Already swapped one out under warranty due to it making dodgy noises. My ZFS RAIDZ2 rebuilt without issues, and I had no data loss. The 5 year warranty on the pro's seems worthwhile.

    Any suggestions for a case?

    Fractal Design Meshify 2/3 is a great case, and I enjoyed the helpful user manual. They have a solid side option, and normal or XL size. Top is mesh, not solid - but would work if you got monitor arm(s). I have a Meshify 2, but would get Meshify 3 if I were getting again.

    Really need advice on upgrade route

    5900XT with 16 cores is R6,499.00... You would definitely notice an improvement going from 8 to 16 cores. I wouldn't worry about Windows. I changed my GPU from Nvidia to AMD - and all I did afterwards was boot up, remove all traces of previous drivers, and install the new AMD drivers.

    I despise lack of transparency like that. Fixing the problem without acknowledging messing people/users around. Some really disrespect others time, by not testing their work before telling others it's ready, or partial publishes of integrations, claiming oh it's done, because the pipeline said...
