New low-power wide area network launched by RSAWEB

RSAWEB has announced the roll-out of a new low-power radio access wide-area network (LoRaWAN).

The network has already rolled out to 95% of Cape Town, with plans to expand to all of South Africa's major metropolitan areas, as well as other African countries.

In other news microsoft has release Encarta on CD...

Like encyclopedias, networks are becoming Wikipediased.

We should not be happy that RSA web has decided to add its closed wall network traffic to an otherwise freely available radio spectrum. They are using up community property, this isn't great news.

What will the network be good for?
Absolutely nothing... Well, not quite... absolutely little packets.

LoraWAN is excellent tech. What I object to is a business using public spectrum to offer a product. If you want to run a private network on the public airwaves, then you need to provide something!
