It’s been decades since a 1980s box-shaped Toyota Cressida sedan has received extra-special attention.
An online advert for a 1986 Cressida, 2.4 GLE, with automatic transmission and priced at R1.1 million became the latest jobbie to lower jaws.

As mentioned here:
It's not even the correct specs advertised.

as much as a love the Cressida, this guy thinks he is holding on to some rare gem - there are still plenty on the road - and as mentioned, who would choose it over a real classic

If it actually has Mandela heritage, that adds significantly to the perceived historical value.
It doesn't. None at all. The real one is probably sold to a museum.

How so? Because it is similar to the one Mandela was driven in (which was a blue one)?
The real one is silver.
A blue one was used in A Long Walk to Freedom starring Idris Elba in 2013.

Not only that, but the availability of spares will be an issue.

I'm making plans to sell off my Rolla, due to the spares issue. You can still get spares at this stage, but I don't want to be stuck with the car when spare availability dries up.

I'm sure an engine + trans swap is possible, nice little 4AGE turbo or something.

You mean you can't believe everything you see in the movies!? /s
