Fake Meat Fail: Sales Collapse At Beyond Meat, Impossible Foods As 20% Of Staff Laid Off

I wonder if our Fry's Thread will still be getting some love or hate going forward.

I honestly dont get what people find so difficult about making good tasting veg dishes.

Falafel anyone? India, Eastern Europe, Arab nations, all been doing amazing veg for millenia.

Im not vegetarian/vegan but still find it genuinely easy to cook vegetarian dishes on a regular basis thats not simply curry, curry 'n curry.

Seriously, whats all the fuss? If you need fake meat to be a vegetarian/vegan, you need hang your head in shame, in SHAME! :p
Fake meat is not for vegetarian/vegan. It is for meat eaters who don't want to comsume meat for ethical or environmental reasons.

It is all part of the anti-meat madness.

Fry's used to be ok. Then they changed the recipe and now it's just rubbish

Precisely.

Lekker lentel roti or a mushroom pattie burger.

No need to fake anything.

Chip triple cheese and gravy (you can cheat and have mutton gravy if you want)....

Best thing since sliced bread, at 3am when you are shyte faced in the extreme.

Maybe because the factory farming and mass killing of animals is a horendous process. The way animals are raised in large factory farms and then transported across the world in ships is beyond torture and the general cruelty in the animal farming industry is well documented. In the dairy industry calves get pulled out of their mothers while they are still being milked and killed or discarded at birth just so you can enjoy a glass of milk or have a meat burger - whoop de doo for you.

There are many quality meat substitutes available these days. Beyond meats are struggling partly due to crappy management and an influx of competition, their actual products are fantastic.
Burger King are doing exceptional well with their plant based products with many of them tasting very similiar to meat products.

A lot of Neanderthals find their manhood challenged with meat substitute products, boo ****ing hoo.
I honestly, from the deepest part of my being, don't give a shyte where my meat comes from. These animals are purely bred to feed the world. That is it. Do I believe they should be treated better, 100%. We ourselves had a massive cattle farm in Zeerust and our animals had a great life. I know this does not account for most livestock.

But as long as there is a nice piece of Beef or Lamb on my plate, I'm happy. No substitute will ever come close to the real thing. No matter how people try and convince us otherwise. I'm more than happy to buy free range beef or lamb at a price as opposed to substitutes at a price. GIVE ME MEAT!

And no, not aimed at you @ShaunSA :D

I find the best substitute for factory farmed meat is hunted wild meat.

Who would be vegetarian/vegan if it wasn't for the perceived ethical/environmental superiorit... I mean concerns?

At 3am? My wife wants that for supper at 6pm, totally sober, for her birthday.

I get my meat delivered directly to my door by a small and petite female farmer that raises, slaughters, butchers and packs my order by herself with her son as the helper. It costs me R90 per kilo. There goes your Neanderthal hypothesis.

you joke, but they walk among us:

yes, and?

oh wait, are you one of those who don't bother to read something and attack the source no matter the context?

did ZH lie by providing the direct link to Bloomberg and writing about a Bloomberg article?
