Surfer Bethany Hamilton says she won’t compete in WSL events if new transgender rules are upheld

Then again, it seems only to be the fossils of surfing speaking up. The World Surf League is following the Olympic guideline, yeah, don't see this overwritten any time... Paris 2024 will be very interesting, indeed. IIRC, the IOC, ruled that each sport's governing body will set its qualifiers, so some sports will allow transgenders and others not. Has this list been produced?

Transphobic, if you put them in their own division then they are saying they are not real women like they identify.
The other issue is they'll expect equal pay and sponsorship despite there being **** all interest in their division

The problem is male athletes are stronger, so they can much easier beat some women athletes. So in order to get rich, you have to become a wo-man.

There are Trans people which are great. However there are men manipulating the system too, to score the medals, and thats a no-no.

Just from my view. I believe transgenders have a right to compete at the highest level of sports, and as I have quoted Dorian,

These are complicated problems with no clear solution.

so I just firmly stand by the point that we shouldn't allow a handicap. Not only will we intoxicate the sporting leagues, but we will enforce division.

Now, when it comes to the competition of women leagues, it is a fact that it doesn't hold the same stature as that of the men. Men sports have better campaigns, bearing superior fruit, etc. Women have long fought for equal standing. This within itself has complications for reasons which require its own thread. I generally support all things being equal.

Now, saying this, what happens when we introduce transgender leagues...

Personally, I would wish for the women leagues to have urgency, and this is applicable to esports too. To introduce transgenders to their divisions now, it will take a lot away from them.

Just my view.

All fun and games until Eben Etsebeth decides to transition after this RWC and joins the women's team. Body parts everywhere

So let me get this straight - you want mentally ill men, to compete in a womens league?

I saw that Hamilton took some serious flak for her first Instagram post, oof. Had a look at WSL too, not going into that, but the hints are there for their support of including transgenders. This decision, however, seems to be key to opening the door for Sasha Jane Lowerson to compete at the Olympics.

I don't know this publication, but they speak surf, so... but before posting, know that Lowerson was on a winning streak until she wasn't,

"I just finished fourth in the Australian titles and nothing but the sound of crickets!"

Only one month ago, it appeared surfing’s first transsexual competitor Sasha Jane Lowerson was on an unstoppable roll, adding yet another trophy to a mantlepiece already groaning with trophies.

Two months after her commanding win at the Western Australian longboard titles in May, Lowerson surfed with a remarkable grace to win the 23rd Lavan Whalebone Longboard Classic at Perth’s Cottesloe Beach.

Sasha Jane Lowerson, a forty-four-year-old Fly-In-Flight-Out worker in Australia’s lucrative mining biz, was one of Australia’s leading male longboarders, even winning the men’s longboard div as Ryan Egan, before transitioning a couple of years ago and joining the women’s side of the draw.

“Trans-girls aren’t going to take over the world, we just want to be included, we’re humans too,” Lowerson said. “I’ve been hiding in this male shell up… for 42 years. To still be made to be that guy that I’m not, it’s shattering,”

Surfing’s reactionary core was laid bare when Momentum Generation funnyman and Kelly Slater bandmate Peter King waded into the trans-athlete improblio saying,

“Stay out of women’s sports where you miraculously win after being an average performing man. Women’s sports is not a backup plan where you can’t win a trophy (And $) in the men’s division. Leagues like WSL and sponsors like Red Bull will you now stand up to this now instead of harming women’s sports?”

Kelly Slater added, “Make a trans division and we don’t have this confusion.”

I won't be surprised that this will be Australia's surf medallist for women at Paris 2024,

No, I said that it will diminish the women's leagues, get that straight. Men, women, and transgenders should all have their own respective leagues, whether it is team or individual activities, and mixed activities per the sporting code being the exception.

The problem arises when we explore commercial viability. It won’t be long until transgenders insist on getting equal pay to men, an issue that women are already embattled with. Transgender is a hot topic right now, and corporations will throw money at it. Change and acceptance are selling points.

Lowerson was 43 when she competed at the West Coast Suspensions Longboard and Logger State Championships last year. Look at these scores,

This article,

kinda packaged this whole thread.

From my perspective, this is an in with the new and out with the old. I am certain that there will be tweaking to the policy, but at this point in time pro and amateur women athletes in either sports and or esports should broadly start to prepare themselves to compete against transgenders.

I don't see a separate division. The transgender pool is simply too small, but the support to have transgenders compete in women's divisions is loud and vocal.

All eyes on Paris 2024.
