Load shedding costs Pick n Pay R60 million a month – the ‘permanent new reality’

Scale down. Retrench staff. Close some branches. Will make up for the losses and please investors too as additional funds will be freed up for them. But even more importantly, start focusing on opening more businesses abroad. Eventually all businesses will go belly up in SA.

For this to be sustainable they ned to be spending that money on solar and battery instead of diesel, which should only be a stop gap. But I'm sure they know that.

At least after the initial capital outlays on solar the spend on diesel generators should drop. I imagine a huge logistical issue is getting co-operation from all the landlords and other tenants in malls etc.

Not always possible if you don't own the shopping centre itself, which is mostly the case.
I'm sure they're the tentpole of the shopping malls they're in.

Speaking bollocks as usual. People need food. Unless you live on all the crap you speak.

And where do you think they are going put these solar panels and batteries ?

You can buy zillions of solar panels and batteries with that.

They do have an energy strategy which was rolled out years ago already in partnership with Energy Partners.

Just because people NEED food, does not mean they will always get it. I refer you to collapsed African countries and places like Venezuela. Just because you still have the silver spoon in the mouth here in SA, does not mean you will have it forever. All good things eventually comes to an end and the West will eventually come drop the food parcels the people need. This is but one of the risks people face with a corrupt and dangerous government.
