Ramaphosa's plan: stick to the old plan, but with an extra minister and state of disaster

Let's see what they legislate under this "State of Disaster" and if it's relevant to energy generation.

Hey now, that plan is supported by a roadmap:

If it were that easy it would have been done already.

Absolutely! Since we're in a state of disaster now, the ANC should break those lofty goals down and make the metrics tracking progress on them publicly available and released weekly.

Transparency is essential
Yep.

Let's also have the minutes of Eskom board and adjacent committees as well as the SoD goon sessions made public. Public servants are accountable to the demos.

These leeches claim to be competent, let's see it.

Step 1. Install ministers that are specialists in their fields.

Oh no, wait...
The problem you encounter when you install a minister is that you often find that the firmware is outdated and not compatible with the OS, unfortunately in that case the only option is to discard the obsolete minister and replace with a newer model, preferably one that is fit for purpose..

I don't know whether Mybroadband has published the announcements, but here are two promulgated notices as published (it will be contained in the gazette),

I have to ask when the National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) will be established. This would be similar to the National Coronavirus Command Council or at least, so I think. I am not certain with the discretion allowed by the act, but Sections 27(1), 27(2), and 27(3) are enacted so the state may when required make regulations and issue directions or authorisations as necessitated, and this is how they will make amendments and changes to the National Enrgy Action Plan.

Well, this is how I see it. The NDMC will be announced any time soon, possibly with the restructure since Eskom will be assigned to a new ministry. Who knows, perhaps the NDMC members are already 'elected' or otherwise appointed.

EDIT: The NDMC is already appointed (I don't know since when). It is headed by Dr Elias Sithole who classed load-shedding as a national disaster.

Haha. The Past. His not being very specific so thst he can play different sides depending on who he is talking to.

The Past - A documentary about the time Cyrril was president.

The NDMC's leadership,

so NDZ is already involved, but...

NDZ: The DA will not support a State of Disaster that puts the same incompetent ministers back in charge

she is already, partially, in charge. This role might change with the restructuring...

Ramaphosa surprises inner circle with announcement of electricity minister

Close allies of President Cyril Ramaphosa were blindsided by his announcement on Thursday night that he would appoint a minister of electricity in his office, who would be responsible for energy recovery.

Sure the NEC knew?

The theatrics... ugh.

The NDMC is a structure that's existed for as long as I can remember. Back in my civil security system engineer days we used to have to factor them into stuff.

IIRC that's the department that classifies events like the KZN floods as a disaster and is supposed to help coordinate resources.

Reading the website, it looks like all they do now is preside over a pile of money, which it (supposedly) allocates for disaster relief.
