Well I guess when you don't have any Post Offices left then it's difficult to keep people employed.
I needed to take my grandmother to a Post Office today to get here SASSA pension card renewed.
Started at Parklands Post Office as it's the only one left in the area (Big Bay, Boy De Goode and Bayside branches have all closed within the last few years).
Parklands branch is still open but they don't do SASSA cards, not surprised. They tell me I have to go to Milnerton branch.
Drive to Milnerton branch, get there and they tell me they can't help because they don't have any SASSA cards and won't be getting more anytime soon. I'm told the only Post Office in Cape Town that can help is Mowbray and I must do it quickly as they're also running out of cards.
So I drive to Mowbray, and to nobody's surprise they have also shut down (apparently yesterday). Sign on the door says I need to go to Clareinch branch.
Off on another adventure to Claremont, 4th time's a charm and they're actually helping people with SASSA cards. A few people in front of us but it didn't take too long to finish up.
Now imagine I can't just jump in a car and drive endlessly to find a Post Office, which is the majority of people on SASSA grants. How the hell are they supposed to know where to go, you can't phone the post office and ask because nobody answers the phones.
