South Africa faces revolt, warns lobbyist

South Africa will face protests similar to those that toppled governments in Tunisia and Egypt in 2011 unless it fixes broken infrastructure, curbs lawlessness and fosters an environment for investment and job creation, the head of a leading business lobby group warned.

“We are in deep trouble,” Busisiwe Mavuso, the chief executive officer of Business Leadership South Africa, which represents some of the country’s biggest companies, said in an interview.

Nah, by some accounts the ANC will even now still get 50% of the vote if there was an election today. That's not the profile of a nation that will revolt.

And true unemployment is actually much less than the official figure because "unofficial" incomes are not accounted for.

Plus: load shedding is only really an issue for the relatively middle classes who are not about to take to the streets with violence. The bottom end has never really had stable power and the top end have the resources to go off grid.

Things are not great, but they're also not a cause for an overly alarmist, "sky is falling", end of the world take on matters.

Arab spring happened because people had nothing else to turn to.

In South Africa there is the ballot box, and even though it is taking some time, the long term trends have the ANC absolutely finished by 2029. The process might begin in 2024 for all we know.

We only get 'inspired' when lying, thieving presidents have to face jail time...
Otherwise, just another day in Sunny SA....

South Africa is model country for Democracy. The majority voted the government in and cannot now complain and start Arab springs and all the s**t or be angry. That is not democratic. It is not how democracy works. You cannot do one thing today and become a terrorist tomorrow and claim you are being democratic.

Take that pen at elections. Don't make a cross on the ANC block, we know that always ends in disaster. Make that mark on the DA block so that they can get municipalities back in order, they can run those and they don't bow to cadres. That's the starting point.
You don't keep the party in power when they are overrun by corruption. It's like eating a complete apple that's 75% rotten and expecting it to taste good.

That rotten part is going to make you throw up, it won't be a good experience.

Some people like to get shafted in the anus so the ANC can stay in power.

2029 !!!
By then we will have electricity once a month on a Sunday and will be drinking water from the potholes ..

I've seen in the media lately that local residents in certain areas are now finally getting wise and protesting on the councilors or MP's doorstep.... some ANC ministers etc are not loving that.

The problem is the ANC will not let sleeping dogs lie and they will rather see the country bankrupt, sans electricity and in social ruin, than gracefully exit the stage and hand over the keys of power to anyone else!

If you think the 2021 Riots were big, wait until you see what the ANC will unleash when they outright lose the elections to another party!
