In search of thock - Keychron K8 Pro review

Be careful, I don't think that's the Pro. No mention of QMK in the description.

Also: Is that a plugin for Serval? I must have it!
Yikes
I must do more research
No this is different
Here take it
For free
I wont charge you this time

Still love my cheap, comparatively, Redragon K556 mechanical.

Had it for 5 years now. No issues. The nice thing about it, and the reason I bought it, is because it allows for swapping the actual switches on the board just by pulling them out. So short of the actual circuit board breaking somehow, this KB will essentially last forever.

I have the beige aluminium regular K8 TKL, just needed a simple runit service to get the function keys working like regular under Linux but I'm happy with it so far. Paid around R900 at the time but no QMK or backlight as I have mood lighting for it.

The ergonomics of that keyboard in the article look horrible. Your keyboard should not be raised so much unless there's a problem with your desk height. This is what I'm rocking, and it's basically perfect:

Wireless, backlighting, incredible battery, USB-C charging, comes with switches to configure for Mac or Windows, has a toggle on the back for Mac vs. Windows, is a mechanical keyboard, can switch between multiple devices on the fly and is super low profile. And it's short so my trackpad and mouse both fit nicely in my desktop setup.

It is the most perfect keyboard I've ever come across. I adore mine.

The last keyboard you'll ever need — Keychron K8 Pro

Heresy! Blasphemy!

I hear you, but before you fetch a pitchfork from your wendy house and bamboo torches from the lapa, understand this isn’t lightly-offered praise.

I wrote a review first!

thank you for enforcing my commitment bias :p

low profile is not for everyone, but I know that many people adore it. It has a lot to do with desk setup I think. I have a nice deep desk, so the "tall" nature of the keyboard feel very comfortable to me. I like having my elbows resting in front of me on the desk.

I almost got imported one of those for myself, but did not like other low profile key-switches that I tried, so I did not want to take the risk at R3000 at the time. Plus I have lost multiple items in customs because they lacked ICASA approval.

I hope they also bring in the Keychron K3 Pro in, as that is the direct competitor to this one.

The more good quality keyboard options available locally, the better. The mechanical keyboards from the "gaming" companies are typically terrible quality and Logitech is massively overpriced in SA by their importer.

My co-worker got one of those. He did spend half a day installing foam layers and lubing each keyswitch. The end result was very good, if a little under-stabilized

Good lord, why lol
Seems overkill. Does he have OCD or something.

Syntech has it listed, but they have the wrong picture on their website. But I receive the correct one.
Make sure the SKU is K8PH3 and it says K8 Pro in the name

Looking at what came off my black keyboard when I cleaned it, I don't think a white keyboard is a good idea for me. As least the keys are slightly grey.
