There is no risk of going beyond stage 8 — De Ruyter

Despite several energy experts and analysts warning that South Africans could experience load-shedding levels higher than stage 8, Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter said this wouldn't be the case.

During an Eskom media briefing on Monday, 20 February 2023, the CEO assured media that the power utility doesn't see the need to go beyond stage 8.

Conradie: If the weather gives a break, we can normalise matter at Lethabo.

"There is a coal stockpile at Lethabo. It is just very wet."

Losses due to coal supply problems was at 2 100MW.

Wet coal again... Do these people not learn? Why isn't the coal stored in a suitable location to stop if from getting wet?

Winter brings an additional 5000Mw of demand. How exactly are they going to cover that in the current state of affairs?
That would mean stage 11 if things are the equivalent of today with the additional demand.

Yeah yeah yeah, hows those years of constant maintenance working out for you? You figured out where the problem is yet? Hint: Its not a hardware problem ;);)

I hope the excrement in charge don't double down on the stupid and take this as a challenge. Just when you think the anc hit rock bottom they pull out the pick axe!

Is each stage 2000MW ?
And we have 48 000MW in total
That means we can have 48 / 2 = 24 stages
