CEOs from South Africa’s biggest retailers slam government’s ‘half-job’ load shedding relief

Don't hold you breath. They all have card-carrying ANC members on their boards.

Oh I'm not really holding my breath in all honesty, but it is something that does need to happen.

As a small random aside, one does have to wonder at what point would the banks be forced by their own rules to suspend the ANC and the SA Government from using their banking systems due to criminal behaviour and "reputational risk"

Doubtful. I'm convinced that the Banks and other financial institutions are complicit in enabling ANC corruption.

Most banks are huge holders of government bonds, so doing this would cripple their own balance sheets. It would never happen.

They really should do more for small businesses, the tax rebate for citizens is a waste, bump up the funding and support these guys, they need it more

Yep

- Abolish the strict employment laws, make it easier to fire somebody due to misconduct, laziness or incompetence
- Abolish BEE etc

But it will never happen.

I very much doubt it, purely on a practical level... but one does have to wonder how much the Banks are bending their own internal rules as well as the FSCA type of rules in this instance.

What's happened to those who looted VBS and the recent complete-loss faced by those pensioners who had their money managed by that NEFG company?

Absolutely nothing, but that in and of itself has zero direct bearing on my random aside...

We all know that Law Enforcement at all levels in this country is beyond a fscking joke.

The very institutions and regulators who exist to protect the money of regular South Africans are all but toothless in the end. I'm convinced that those who go on to commit these acts of fraud and embezzlement are well aware of this weakness.
It's disgusting, actually.

I happen to know a couple of the pensioners who've had their money embezzled by NEFG. Previously wealthy, multi millionaire, pensioners who now have zero pension income and have to get by on a R2000 SASSA pension, and whatever other money they can scrape together.

Sad.

Imagine working your arse off, saving diligently in order to ensure a worry-free retirement, only to be shafted by the system...
