Andre De Ruyter leaves Eskom with immediate effect

So are there still people who effectively claim he had a free hand to do whatever was necessary at Eskom or that the Eskom board isn't controlled by the ANC?
He is complicit. He admit he has knowledge about the corruption and he refuses to do anything real about it.(vague claims on an interview that the ANC is corrupt doesn't count, we already know this.) Did he even go as far as handing over the information he has to the police?

Oh sht here's the thread. So he opens his mouth and suddenly he's gone.
Must've hit a nerve.

So, what happens now?

I thought stage 6 would have continued until yesterday. Seems it is now permanent?

All i can say now we have no chance what so ever , ANC will implement their cadre policy and put their most corrupt candidate in charge to start covering up all the evidence and opening more avenues to loot.

Even Zondo and his commission couldn't do anything about corruption... you think AdR is going to do better?

I don't care for AdR ... he is laughable after the "bug" issue.

Yep all of them saying good riddance :cautious:. Wait until Stage 8 is called and he's not there to blame:ROFL:

People will blame him. Just like how people here blamed all the previous guys in the past couple years instead of him. It's always just easier to blame the previous guy instead of the one currently in charge.

Maybe learn to read? Here is the link again:

Zero support from law enforcement. All the things law enforcement want to do is nipped in the bud.

Even De Ruyter himself blamed the previous guys, i would actually love to hear him rate his tenure at Eskom, see if there is anything he takes responsibility for.

Did you watch the interview?
He admitted that his time could be considered a failure overall, although he did manage to begin some improvements in governance.

Zondos job was not to do anything. The role of that commission was to get all the cronies to testify. That's what he did in a unnecessary long-winded and drawn out manner. So Zondo did his job and then made recommendations which he handed to Cyril.

Ramaphosa failed to act on them.

De Reyter took the eskom job knowingly. And failed.

The bug issue and making a big deal out of how sophisticated the device actually was is neither here nor there. And it is a petty small-minded detail to be obsessed over or judge a person on.

"released with immediate effect" AKA "he's exposed us and we need to get rid of him while we come up with excuses."

But how does removing him immediately stop him talking. That's the part I don't understand.
It's not like he can't still talk unless they...you know.

yeah but it serves the whole "we had to get rid of him because he's spreading lies and is damagin the company" story they will/are trying to spin.

I don't think Eskom's board would "you know.." him, I think that order will come from much higher up the gravy train chain... He's no doubt ticked off some heavy hitters in that syndicate.

Would hardly make a difference.
Best case scenario they stop sabotaging eskom for a while and we have some electricity.

Worst-case they loot what they can while they can blame De Reyter and everything comes crashing down.

That would happen anyway. The ANC cannot save eskom. No useless middle manager can, I don't even think the DA has the balls to go in there and clean house properly. So it needs to fail completely. It is just a matter of time, but that can still be 10 more years of limited loadshedding.

I assumed we all knew it was the ANC doing this. The Eskom board is nothing.

Ah yes, the usual ANC tactics... Now DR is a "right-winger"...
