Hey all,

First time I'm needing to handle something under warranty.

So the question is if I'm still in the limited warranty period - do I take the Airpods to the iStore for them to have a look at or log a return with Takealot (the retailer).

Normally, I'd just log a return with Takealot, but in this instance the apple support app wants me to take them to the iStore.

I guess I'm asking - what would be the most painless option?

PS. The issue with the Airpods is that the left airpod is significantly softer than the right one.

Best to take it to iStore or better yet Digicape.

I took my gen 1 AirPods that I bought in Singapore to Somerset West iStore under the international recall and they tested them then replaced them with no worries.

I upgraded and it is quite a substantial difference. Better fit even though they say it's the same shape, and better ANC all round.

Cool, iStore it is then, I should probably mentally prepare for the time that I'm going to waste waiting for the techs.

Mine were great, until they weren't :D

Earwax buildup?
Shhh, don't tell everyone - I just cleaned them!

From what I recall all the tech reviewers mentioed that the 2nd gen airpods weren't that great, and apparently the 3rd gen ones are much better - Linus, Snazzy Labs (Comes to mind)

I'm not enough of an audiophile to tell the difference, as to me the 2nd gen ones sound fine. Others here may disagree...

I guess to me if they sound good and clean then why not right …

Probably best to book a slot at the iStore tech support counter online, they don’t seem to like walk-ins.

And a quick update the warranty claim was quick and easy,

It's ready for collection - turn around time of around 6 days.
