Knock at the Cabin (2023) 7/10

M. Night Shyamalan return to form apocalyptic psychological horror, well shot. The premise & atmosphere really sells the story. For me personally I just wanted a final punch/sell in the end. MVP for me was Dave Bautista displaying stellar range.

I’ll watch this soon. Been looking forward to it

The Whale (2022) 7.5/10

Like all of Darren Aronofsky's films it is a tough/intense watch. Brendan Fraser gives his lifetime best performance. Lots of heartbreaking moments. An incredibly sad & honest watch.

I switched off after about 20 min. You need to be in the right mood to watch human suffering which highlights how good Fraser actually is.

Its also in done 4:3 aspect ratio.
I think the AR worked well for this type of film.

Ditto on the mood vibe, it is not a “switch off your brain & enjoy” kinda film.

Greatest beer run ever. 7/10 First thing we have watched on Apple TV.

A Man Called Otto (2022) 7.5/10

Extremely enjoyable comedy-drama. Tons of varied emotion. Tom Hanks fits the role like a glove. Cleverly crafted film, character development is on point. Tugs at the heartstrings a moerse lot. Lastly tops mark to the cute cat.

I think I need to watch the OG film.

I'll wait for your review for this. I doubt I'll watch two versions of exactly the same story, and I don't have a problem with subtitles.

It's like The Intouchables (2011) - that movie is so good that I really didn't see the point of watching the American remake.
Serious Q though, do you like/enjoy Tom Hanks? If so give this '23 remake a watch as well as the OG (which I will get to at some point). Hanks just knocks out the role so well. Honestly he is my most fav/most consistent actor.
