No confusion whatsoever. The rules based order (aka Liberal International Order) was a set of agreed upon rules (rules not laws) that resulted in an unprecedented cooperation mainly between the US, Europe and Japan.

You could have said Bretton Woods.

The US DOES in essence rule the world, mainly by controlling the world's reserve currency and it's (and it's western allies) voting shares in the IMF and World Bank.

That has been slowly changing by China's creating of pallarel structures (ie Asia Infrastructure Bank, The Belt Road etc). Now there's an attempt at creating an alternative settlement currency, an alternative to SWIFT etc.

Finally, China is now openly aligning with Russia militarily. So yes, there is unfortunately the possibility of countries fighting it out indirectly via proxies in fight for control of resources and influence.

So in other words it's just Russia and China breaking the internationally agreed upon rules and invading other countries for resources.

Great.

And you're so anti-American that you align yourself with them?

Basically China gets rich because West outsources production there, all the while China steals IP from the West.

But this is not sustainable. And given Chinese family planning policies of the past, it's not clear if China can sustain growth and development in the future, without these things. There are many who'd be happy to take over some of this manufacturing business.

Hence they need to expand their influence elsewhere. Same as Russia flexing their muscle (terribly) in Ukraine.

@tetrasect if you call this observation as my alignment with them, I can't help you.

I think it's quite clear you want to be shielded by NATO at home but you won't allow the same for Ukraine.

Given how Russia is going and how they didn't have to do this, the US will have to consolidate Europe before making sure China is curtailed and locked down in the Pacific.

Paul, Chinese expansion can't help them. They can use Russia as a source of cheap resources but that won't make them stronger. They would have to reclaim lost territories. That may mean war with Russia.

Also mining stuff in Africa won't help them either if their industrial base is coastal at home and their population faces an implosion. The Chinese are not egalitarian toward other races.

I mention that Russia should use a little bit of nuclear and suddenly everyone loses their mind.
Jeez guys.

Just small ones. A few hundred kilotons each should do it.

And before okes think I'm joking.
Y'all need to go read Russian military doctrine, which is built around short range tactical nukes, were Russia to be in a full scale war.

And that's not Russia saying this, it's the US DoD concluding this.

I already told you, it's possible or maybe even likely the Ukrainians have tactical nukes of their own.
It would be a stupid move, given how there are 15mil people with relatives in Ukraine in Russia.
Also the Ukrainian special forces have been blowing stuff up in Russia.

Nuclear states have lost to non-nuclear powers. America lost in Vietnam. Russia lost in Afghanistan. It's very doable.

You sure do cry a lot about stuff that's going on in your head. It's always a different thing every day.
