Another thing I noticed was that when we bowled and the Aussies missed, the ball landed way before were the wicket keeper was. If we were 'braver' and come up to the wicket ( de Klerk etc. ) they would not have had such free swinging.Jip, the girls did extremely well. Just one criticism though... this is for the batting coach ... please teach the girls to step inside the ball and glance behind square. Probably 80% of middle to 4th stump balls is going to between deep midwicket and long on. Just singles and very easy to defend... Apart from the fact that we struggle to take quick singles when the ball is inside the ring.
Ja, was watching Heally, but she's in another class. Up to the stumps from ball 1. Totally screwed Laura who's always batting outside the crease. Jafta is standing too far back for pace. Don't think she took more than a handful directly (in the semi and final combined)... always on the bounce, which is why she's prone to byes. Chetty is our best keeper, but unfortunately missed the WC due to back injury I think. We are really in need of a decent backup keeper/batsmenAnother thing I noticed was that when we bowled and the Aussies missed, the ball landed way before were the wicket keeper was. Pity... Jafta will need to really up her game now... not seeing any other keepers in the teamTrisha Chetty has retired.
