I recently had very hard horrible air fryer chips and stopped eating after 5 chips so I prefer slap chips

Chips with olive oil on it. It doesn't have to be knee deep in it, either.

Deep fried will generally taste better as our taste buds are pre-programmed to like fat due to our long evolutionary history.

Air fryer can be decent and is more healthy but its worth spicing it or lightly oiling or both before cooking and not over cooking them.

Come to think about this. Frozen store bought chips I almost always bake in the oven until crisp. Home cut chips, best triple cooked.

According to most uninformed the air fryer = small convection oven.

Preparation-wise goes to airfryer by a long shot, no chopping, pealing, messy hot oil (and disposal of oil).

The way I do my airfyer chips they come out really good and very close to oil fry, but the fish and chip shop slap chips still have an edge. I'll never do oil fried chips at home again.
