US Republican lawmakers launch bill denouncing South Africa’s naval exercises with China and Russia

And what precisely is the issue that the South African government has with Israel?
It was in bed with the NATS :D

They hate Israel so much, they are even going as far as to say Palestine/Israel is an apartheid v2

This asinine comparison is often made here. Like equating Olives and Onions.

Didn't the architect of apartheid (Hendrik Verwoerd) say that?

"Israel, like South Africa, is an apartheid state."

View attachment 1484883

He actually did. iirc that was because they voted against SA implementing Apartheid at the UN. Which I suppose was technically right. Actually, Israel invented Apartheid! /Await Mossad visit

it goes beyond that even

not just anti-Israel but also pro-Palestine, even pro-Hamas, maybe because the ANC also has a terrorist history they feel an affinity towards other terrorists

or maybe it's a religious affinity, I still fondly recall the "human shields" from South Africa who went to defend water towers and other useless "targets" in Iraq only to run for cover and hide in the hotel basement at the first sign of an incoming attack, they were a specific religious group

then again, during that war it was easy to point and laugh, looking back now at how blatantly the US lied to justify their unilateral act of war perhaps those pathetic human shields had a point, hell maybe even anti-Israel people have a point, the lines are all blurred these days

We've already established you're a coloured from CPT and a Muslim.

Anything else you would like to share with the group? :D

And if I am, does that make me less somehow? My opinion of no merit? This forum not a place for my 'type'?

Your post reminds me of a post by Cosmik I saw somewhere, an IQ map of the world, showing imperial and colonial powers to be so intelligent by their metric, Africa not.

Not at all, just summarizing your views in short.

Helps with understanding people better.

They must woo harder... SA is up the the highest bidder.

They woo us pretty hard already. As I already said, the US made their latest commitments already under the impression that we would carry through with hosting the military, naval, exercises. Personally, in my view, the US should have been more resolute on the Lady R episode.

It is best to wait and see where the US stands on H. RES. 145, the bill is also aimed at Yellen’s mission to SA,

(4) calls on the United States Government to keep Congress apprised by providing regular and comprehensive briefings on subjects relating to South Africa including-

(A) a complete account of all known United States-sanctioned entities and transnational criminal organizations' connections to illicit proceeds linked to wildlife trafficking;

(B) a detailed account of positive economic results stemming from South Africa's inclusion in the African Growth and Opportunity Act and the United States-South Africa Trade and Investment Framework signed in 2012;

and

(C) a timeline to end the Biden administration's climate colonialism by including gas-to-power initiatives to counter the widespread and nationwide blackouts costing the South African economy an estimated $200,000,000 per day.

so, I do expect resistance by the Democrats.

DIRCO has already dismissed any concerns,

and now it has the DA all wind up.

In the end, I doubt that the resolution will succeed.

I will say it time and time again, the only change here can happen at the general elections. The people get to choose which side we lean on, but the other side will always tug.

As I live in South Africa I know this is going to suck big time.

As for the ANC politicians? they will simply blame the Americans for everything they lose out on. And their voters will believe they are starving because of America, not because of the ANC.

We have seen the propaganda in action for decades, we know it will win this war and destroy the last vestiges of reason left in this country. Of course that is if the ANC's other policies don't bring SA to ruin before that can happen.

oooo I love this!

You do realize that China has some of the worse human rights record on the planet? Their workers are slaves for a penny to the dime.

Let me guess, you think they are the people to emulate? South Africa with all it's unions, minimum wage and and and? Please mate, you are living a pipe dream. If you ever think SA and China can and will be good partners and think we should be following their way of doing things, you have the wrong picture completely. I'm going to harbor a guess and say you are an ANC supporter? It's like trying to mix oil with water comparing SA with China :D
You do know that China has bought much infrastructure in Africa such as harbours and airports and many mines.
They just get things done, the yanks never really care much about this continent, we're just 10th world to them.

US could easily get high speed rail once the federal government gets out of the business of rail.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amtrak

In fact getting the government out of both road and rail would completely invigorate the rail industry because of basic physics.
They should have got the Chinese to build their first bullet train. Doubt the yanks will ever finish it.
Amazing not one bullet train in the States, such a third world country by Chinese standards.

At what cost to the countries who now have these things hmmm??

You're so blinded by your love of China you can't actually see the reality of their involvement/interest.

Any country can if you don't give a shyte for human rights and pay just enough to keep them hydrated and fed :D.

I mean look at what SA accomplished under apartheid...

It also falls apart pretty quickly, you don't have to look far to find information on how chinese bridges, buildings and other infrastructure is falling apart soon after completion.

Name one country that's able to construct as the Chinese do. The weird part of this that they constructed the Central Pacific Railroad in California from 1865 to 1869.
