Guess I'll have to be the first contrarian and say I thought it was "Meh".35Mins, great watch. Just finished it. Atmosphere is a delight.
I think you might be the 1st yes. I’ll “back up“ my view why I think it was great:Guess I'll have to be the first contrarian and say I thought it was "Meh".
I heard the second episode is better, so I hope this proves true.
I'm not a fan of Grogu. It's too much of a show crutch, although he is adored by many so the attempts to remove him backfired and hence he's back. Pairing an infant with a protagonist of few words wasn't the best decision IMO.I think you might be the 1st yes. I’ll “back up“ my view why I think it was great:
- It links up well from the S2 finale
- Grogu is a delight in many ways & was missed (the hugging scene in particular brought glee)
- We see Greef Karga in action
- The ending looks to setup the core narrative of S3
The short runtime didn’t bother me as the pacing & structure was very much on point.
That scene was stupid. They previously paint Mandalorians as such competent warriors but then they're almost decimated by a creature they surely know exists in those waters. Floundering around trying to get their balance and fend off the big reptile. Meh.The people in the show just come across as incompetent, I mean that scene with the crocodile...
This feels like the writers needed something more than Mando needed something. His motivations are weak, but this series is very much structured like:Why should Mando want to become a proper Mandalorian again after becoming an apostate?

Mando has a mission
He goes to get help for the mission.
He gets a side quest...
That said, I don't really mind. Season 1 and 2 had its flimsy moments but it also had some damn entertaining tv so these moments don't bother me as much as in something like Obi Wan where for me there was very little to redeem the weaker moments.
It just seems like a plot device to give him a reason to visit Mandalore, a place he would otherwise have no motivation to go there. Am guessing he will take the bath but will come to realize that his "cult" is not true for all Mandalorians and go his own way...Why should Mando want to become a proper Mandalorian again after becoming an apostate? He can keep all his stuff regardless, even the sword that allows him to command all the Mandalorians..
Take a special bath at a special place and everything is A-OK![]()
I feel like those gears started turning in him when he took off his mask for a greater good last season. This journey to the mines feels like he's been reset; forgotten the lessons of the past and instead just mindlessly heading toward something for plot sake. I hope the season introduces a bit more purpose for him in the coming episodes.I Am guessing he will take the bath but will come to realize that his "cult" is not true for all Mandalorians and go his own way...
Yeah basically the series feels like your typical video game. Go here to get the thing, then go there, but oh wait first do this. That scene was stupid. He can trust that droid, apparently. For what reason, noone knows.....but that's just the wayYeah basically the series feels like your typical video game. Go here to get the thing, then go there, but oh wait first do this.
First season started with a good premise, some likened it to a Clint Eastwood in space, but they haven't really capitalised on it. Not enough focus on the character motivations or growth imo.
As mentioned in other posts it kinda feels like a reset so they can start over, but still relying on Groku for the "ooohs" and "aaahs" or occasional laugh is a mistake.
Merchandising ftw I guess. This also explains why Mando nonsensically decided to go reuse that droid.
