Do I agree with him? No. However I do not think he deserves to have his career cancelled because of the opinion he offered. That is a very strong action that destroys the ability to even have a reasonable conversation on the topic as if you slip up even a tiny bit as a white guy you will suddenly find yourself unemployable. I do not think his response deserved what happened. While I do not necessarily agree with what he said I also do see where he comes from. Solving racism is unlikely with more racism. It is likely with open and honest discussion. If this is how you treat someone who says anything you don't like then the conversation will very quickly be over which is a worse outcome as when discourse ends discord starts in most instances. As Winston Churchill said "Jaw Jaw is better than War-War."

Perhaps that is because its predominantly white people being cancelled for an opinion. I am not aware of people of other races being cancelled for words, with the possible exception of Ye or whatever he calls himself now.

Being "cancelled" can be situationally good in the form of boycotting. It played a part in ending Apartheid. As an example the UK government kept the kid gloves on with the apartheid government cause they wanted our gold. Ordinary housewives from England started boycotting SA products in protest of Apartheid. It then added pressure towards ending it, and forced the government to even get tougher. R Kelly has some well deserved boycotts against him. That was for action though more than ideas or viewpoints.

I just think its a harsh tool when done at the level seen happening in the USA. The left has made it almost impossible to even question some of their views and lets face it, some of their views are a bad idea or outright crazy.

Why not, when the majority of blacks THINK of themselves as somewhat of a singular group.

Coz for me, all that matters at the end of the day is the individual. The stupid people will always outweigh the smart people, and obviously culture, upbringing, language and nationality do play a role in perceptions and expectations, but it's only fair that I give everyone the opportunity to prove me wrong, at least once.

I can't be very smart if I expect to know a person's whole personality and history just from looking at them.

I see. Did you come out as strongly against USA when they were bombing ME to smithereens? Millions of Syrians actually homeless/dead. USA as example because person who cancelled is an American and you found it atrocious that he was cancelled, just because he was from your race. Did you protest similarly when black guys were routinely shot by police in US?

I get that we won't have time to comment on every aspect of world news but it certainly looks like some of you are acting as new victims and coming together as if "white" is something special. Also, cancellation that I have seen here is merely future loss of income of what seems like already a rich author.

There are valid criticisms and dumb criticisms, and we have to distinguish between them. it's easy for a nazi to hide their hate behind a fake concern and it's also easy for a spineless jew to cry anti-semitism at everything. He is the very definition of why it's "not okay to be white" - people that get fixated on race as a form of identity or judging people simply based on race are not healthy. The poll was also very unclear on why it's okay and not okay "to be white" - people interpret the question differently and have different experiences. Instead of finding out more, he immediately, as an individual, goes on a rant how he won't help black people any more, black people are a hate group, he always thought of black people as a "winning team", i mean wtf?

That kind of bias is always there, it just took a poll to make him snap and unleash it. And it's true for anyone of any race, if you are fixated and sensitive about race, you need to get to know more people.

I don’t get the guys logic, 26% of random unknown black people according to this poll disagreed so that means white people need to ”get the hell away from black people“ because he now believes the entirety of the black race in America are despicable people and they can’t be fixed. Going by that there was a lot more going on in this guys head and in his beliefs long before he heard of this poll, the poll was just an excuse for him to be able to voice his firmly held opinion.
