The sun is about to get more active than it has for a decade — and it could lead to power outages, grounded flights, and stunning auroras

So, everyone is going to die then.... the end of the world.

And the climate will change accordingly.

But let's blame innocent and beneficial carbon, the single source of power and life for every carbon-based species on this planet, and the reason the Earth is greening up nicely.

Yeah, but the cult is now tearing down entire forests to make room for solar and wind farms cos 'carbon n stuff', so, gg

Reality, we will have another one of these one day...
South Africa had a similar event in 1994. However, unlike coronal mass ejections wrecking havoc on the electrical grid during the Carrington event, we had coronal ASS ejections that ended up in ESKOM to destroy the electrical grid.

The sun may be waking up after almost a decade of relative calm, scientists say — and that could cause problems on Earth.

The solar storms that rage on our star during its active period create bursts of electromagnetic energy that can affect everything from the power grid to GPS signals.

These so-called solar maximums occur roughly every 11 years, and they haven't been much of a problem in the past.

Scientists, however, fear that our reliance on electricity and interconnectivity could mean we're far more vulnerable to their effects this time around.

Please notify the Swiss Alps(Geeners) about the Sun, and the Earth's core activities.

So we have been through this before, without power outages or grounding of flights.
Perhaps educate your self, there have been several cases of Massive coronal mass ejections in the past which weren't aimed at earth fortunately, those that were did cause issues, and the impact would be massive compared to 1921.

I wonder how this could potentially affect home solar power installations?

It won't.
And by the time it does you have much bigger problems and you're likely better off hiding in your microwave oven.

like last year...

Well, MCEs do occur, and probably more regularly than we'd like to admit.

BUT: Occupying such an insignificant portion of our solar system it is much of a hit-and-miss affair AND we are wobbling all over the show on our orbit around the sun too that it would be rather unfortunate that we should suffer a direct hit. Then again, it is the intensity of such an MCE that would make a significant impact, or not.

Bloody human's and causing climate change with our nonsense. Wtf we even on the sun in the first place. When did that even happen?
Maybe also worth checking this out... Milankovitch (Orbital) Cycles and Their Role in Earth's Climate, just to see how much we humans influance this...

The Milankovitch cycles include:
  1. The shape of Earth’s orbit, known as eccentricity;
  2. The angle Earth’s axis is tilted with respect to Earth’s orbital plane, known as obliquity; and
  3. The direction Earth’s axis of rotation is pointed, known as precession.

OMG the ANC turned out to be the best doomsday preppers ever... We'll sail through this like it's 1823

and it could lead to power outages

Eish, sun's under new management by eskom?

Seriously though, I don't get the reasoning behind fear mongering kak. We've known the sun goes through these cycles, it's never posed a the danger this headline (cba to read the article) claims. It's either click bait or it's fear mongering kak. Did a quick skim and yeah, fear mongering kak.

I'd almost be willing to bet that somehow this will be used as an excuse for loadshedding at some point this year.

Ikr. F%$^ing humans destroying the climate. Why can't we just keep magnetic north still? Why are they choosing to plonk it down in Siberia of all places now?!

Don't forget the stuff like El Nino and La Nina either. Who's not doing their job properly making sure those winds maintain their pace and cycles.

Hoomins. Baah!
