Those escorts tend to get rowdy and ofthen drive you off the road.

I used to think the same but there could be a real emergency. Someone flashing me on the freeway right up my ass at 140 could be a guy rushing his pregnant wife to hospital. It could be someone whose kid just got stabbed trying to get to hospital before its too late. You never know when it's a real emergency and when it's a race to KFC, so rather err on the side of caution than turn an emergency into a fatality.

No for sure, if its a lone security car going to a scene then ill move. But if there is a supercar with them they can p0es off.

Can the rich not have emergencies? Sure, they probably have more practical cars as well, but that car might have been specifically chosen because it can get to the hospital 30 seconds faster - or something may have happened at a dinner party. You just don't know.

Watch this - while it's not a supercar, a performance car was required and available.


I know it's Clarkson and a lot of his stories are made up, but his father did indeed die in 1994, and his mother died in 2014 shortly before this episode was filmed. You can see him trying not to choke up when he mentions his mom, and there's more visible emotion in this story than his "stories."

It's a case of the only car available that could manage it was one that you would/might block.

If there's a convoy with the car, keep in mind that many high profile people don't/can't travel alone.

Private security firms that charge a fortune to protect some rich **** is the likely answer. Some of these VIP security companies are as dodgy as the criminals they protect their clients from. A few years ago I did a quote at a house in Houghton and the house across the road had 2 security guards walking up and down the pavement. Suddenly the one security guard goes into GV (grens vegter) mode with his shotgun ready looking up and down the road. Along comes a 7 series BMW flanked by a 5 Series and the gate opens and in they go and the security guard on the pavement returns to normal mode. I asked the guy I was doing a quote for what was up with that. He said the guy is some self important jewelry/gold dealer douche and he has private security.
 
VIP security = fancy name for security guard, theres no additional authority.
Law is also clear on white lights, security vehicles are meant to have a static white light on a registered response vehicle. Lots of people and smaller companies take chances with flashing white lights, sirens, using this to push through traffic, etc, because law enforcement is lax.

The SAPS VIP unit is different, they are actual law enforcement officers.

I don't know if Alberton has since gotten better leadership in for the Police, since the previous ones got into trouble for selling illegal firearms. But it is interesting that both areas have poor management in the Police. So these security companies do a lot of work the Police should do like tou said.
 
I drive a 2 ton vechile, it only makes way for red lights. Lucky in the WC we have little of this problem.
 
And i saw it AGAIN

This time it was a black Bentley Continental GT and it had numberplate... but had very very black windows. It was being flanked by BMW with white-flashing lights and VIP Protocol written on the doors.

To be fair however, they were not driving like hooligans.
