The Spanish parliament on Thursday approved the creation of a sick leave for women suffering from incapacitating periods, becoming the first country in Europe to do so.

The new bill creates the possibility for women to call in sick “in case of incapacitating menstruation,” the Spanish Congress said in a statement Thursday.

I don't disagree on principle. I do wonder how progressive they're going to be with it though.

The implementation is what I am wondering about. The thought of someone potentially having 12 extra days a year “off” is interesting.

Meh let's wait and see what happens. Two kinds of people, one will exploit the living **** out of this and the other will probably just go on as per normal.

You are correct. Some women will call out how stupid this is.
But then some women suffer from severe pain, and those are the women who deserve a little more understanding.

I support this. I was once part of a team with four women and they refused to sync no matter what I tried, so one of them was always on the rag. I'd catch it every week. At least this way, the workplace stays safe.
